My only gripe with Sony is their youtube policies that keep us from watching anything they post. But it sounds like Universal isn’t that great about it anymore either.
To be honest, I'd take stingy ass youtube policies and actual effort elsewhere over zero effort in the area that one's supposed to excel in. Wasn't the entire point of universal to help vamps be more international? Bullshit.

Yeah, they switched to Sony a few years ago and, even within Japan, their promo has gone through the roof.
Now that I think about it, even L'Arc had better promo than vamps ever did here. Actual visible promo in high-trafficked areas (I still can't believe they landed a billboard in fucking times square), promo on the venue itself, decent notice, relevant interviews... hmmmm...
24cylinders replied to your post:You are completely correct about their marketing. For a band that's supposedly trying to expand themselves out of the Japanese scene they are still trying to promote how Japanese they are. This has been a problem I've had with VAMPS lately, they are falling into this weird area where they seem to only care about the Japanese. They've been coming out with over-priced items that only the Japanese would buy, and are doing these large Japanese events that are getting in the way of their progression.
This all reminds me of how poor the promo was for MUCC (while still with Universal) when they came over to the US by themselves. Two shows, no notice, haven’t been back since. And they could have, cause ToC got them a good reaction with non-fans.
They were with Universal, too? Do I sense a pattern of shit promo, shit notice and shit planning? Suspicious...

I remember around the time that Devil’s Side ( I think?) came out, Tri wrote a letter being concerned about the hyper sexualization of white women in their work. They printed it in one of the mags, but obv. didn’t read it.
Yeah, I remember her mentioning that to me too. Clearly they never read it, or hyde isn't the only one with a shit memory there.
