I know some people are mad about the dialogue change of the EO scene; But personally I think the scene was extremely well crafted in terms of dialogue. It was simple while saying so much, and it allowed for Chris and Mariska's chemistry to really show through the silence.

Liv saying "because you'd try to protect me" and her non response to his "something wrong with that?" is... HUGE.

Liv basically ended her friendship with Barba because he tried to protect her when she didn't ask. Yet she didn't say "yes" to Elliot's question. Because Elliot WAS the one person she WANTED to protect her before he left. Then he was gone and she had to get used to not relying on that and to stop wanting it.

But now he's back. And even though she is conflicted, she knows she not only trusts him to protect her and her son, she WANTS it. And she's really scared of that after training herself not to want that or him.

She's not worried it won't work out. She's terrified it will. Liv is not ready for forever yet. And with everyone in their work leaving or dying, she's not ready to make herself vulnerable to losing him again.

Elliot saying "For" instead of "About" is very purposeful.

When they're close she says "I want to" then repeats "I'm not ready." Elliot slightly nods and allows her space. This is finally the communication they've needed for 2 years. They have acknowledged face to face that they want to be in a relationship but Liv isn't ready yet. That is finally some forward motion after years of standstill and out of sync-ness.
