What starts as a harmless detour turns into an evening of lights, laughter – and a prophecy no one saw coming.

Out of the corner of his vision, he noticed something dark at the far edge of the fairgrounds — a tent that stood out sharply against all the bright carnival lights. He frowned, turned his head. At the very end of the lot, half-hidden in shadow, stood a small round tent with thin trails of smoke curling up from its peak. The fabric was deep violet, almost black, and a sign hung out front in curling gold letters:

“Fortune Teller.”

Dean nudged Cas with his elbow. “Now that looks interesting.”

The laughter, the music, the rattle of rides — all of it suddenly felt muted, like the wind had swallowed the sound. The tent looked oddly out of place, and somehow that made it even more intriguing.

“A fortune teller?” Cas tilted his head, frowning slightly. “Really?”

Dean grinned, shoving his hands into his jacket pockets. “Come on. It’ll be fun.”

Cas’s gaze lingered on the tent. The violet fabric barely stirred in the wind. “I’m not sure,” he said slowly. “Aren’t most of them frauds? Humans pretending to see the future when they’re really just good at reading people?”

“Yeah,” Dean admitted with a shrug, eyes still fixed on the gold lettering. “But… I don’t know. Something about it’s calling to me.”

Cas studied him for a moment — head tilted, eyes softening.

“Well?” Dean grinned, that boyish spark lighting up his face again. “You coming?”

“Of course,” Cas said quietly, a small, genuine smile tugging at his lips.
