Speaking of Sonic movies I think the prop spinball used in the filming of at least the first movie but possibly all three would maybe be the coolest possible Sonic thing to own in the entire fucking world

Every so often I see "the Sonic movie 1 redesign was a publicity stunt" discourse pop up and do you guys think there's a point at which wilful ignorance becomes impressive

I had wanted to rewatch this earlier in the month, ideally the 16th for the screenshot, but really any time before Christmas. I failed that, which is sad, but I mean it's the day after Christmas today that's still festive. Although mind you I wasn't strictly in for the rewatch as a Christmas movie, rather I was thinking about Nagato and how fantastic a character she is and so wanted to rewatch Disappearance. And yeah no here we are. Absolutely fantastic movie, the highlight of its series and one of the highlight's of KyoAni's entire filmography. Its nature as something of a triumphant tragedy wherein we reject the new safe world where Nagato gets to be a real person instead of a robot subject to the whims of an alien overlord but this is still a victory because we're flipping that overlord off and this world is more fun anyway, it's depthy, interesting to think about. Settling on a screenshot was hard actually because Kyon crossing the train station ticket machine thing is a really potent visual. But I just wanted something a little warmer, and with Nagato in it. My score for this movie has gone up as well, an 8 that turned into a 9. Huge W.
