Reblog.
This is the 3rd rewrite since Election Day began. If I had more time there would be a lot more details in the lyrics... the material seems endless. Instead you get baby Rowan on background vocals and tambourine etc.
Somebody said my song about mass murderers was too harsh, so I wrote this one about being medicated and numb, and made the mass murderer song about Donald Trump instead.
I found a tape deck and a bunch of cassette tapes I recorded waaaayyy back in the day... This one was an ode to my favorite radio station in the 90's, that I actually mailed to the radio station. They called me at home, played the song on the air, and sent me a keychain and a Z-shirt autographed by everyone! My 15 seconds of fame as a 15-year-old:)
Spur of the moment recording in music class feat. Alex (age 3) on vocals, percussion instruments which distracted the rest of the kids from singing, and my mandolin debut! Inspired by Elizabeth Mitchell's rendition of Peace Like a River. How did we do??
Photo is of the Hudson River from the NY side. It's about as peaceful here as it sounds in our version of the song;)
And with the end of summer comes fall:)
I’ve got the February flu (not really, just a case of the mondays) How is that groundhog going to predict 6 more weeks of winter on an uncharacteristically warm weekend and the very next day, we really do get half a foot of snow… I was ready for spring!
December Flurries, re-recorded. 'Tis the season!
