🌺Blackgirlmagic✨
Sunday 13.10.13
When I woke up, my foot went straight into a bin that had been placed right beside my head. What.
There was also a can of sprite on my little table, I was in my pyjamas, my clothes all neatly folded in my bag.
What had actually happened last night and how the hell did I get to bed. None of the other girls in my room new how I got home, apparently I was already there when they got in.
It was a mystery to be solved throughout the day. Of course we had plenty of time for mystery solving as today we were driving to Berlin, with a couple hours stop in Dresden.
I wasn't in a great place today, so when we pulled into Dresden (which was freezing) I was lagging behind the rest of the group. Though still taking in the sights.
Dresden is a beautiful place, with a terrible history. As much of Germany has now. The city was bombed heavily during WWII and the buildings that remain standing have the scorch marks still.
We went on a really quick walk through the old town, seeing all the main things. We got free time for lunch, I really needed to pee so I picked the first restaurant I found, which happened to be tappas. So that worked out really well for me and the other girls, a nice cheap feed and good company. What more can you ask for when travelling.
After tappas we wanted coffee because it was so cold outside. There is a Starbucks in town, but it was a little bit of a walk from where we were. We met up with Dee, Scotty, Chris and Adam there, so we had a cute little coffee date then all walked back to the bus together.
We were now on the way the Berlin!
On the way Scotty found a McDonalds that could fit the bus in the car park, so we stopped for a cheeseburger, then hit the road again. Instead of dropping everything off and doing a walking tour, we were staying on the bus and doing a driving tour of the city as we drove in. We went past sections of the Berlin wall, past Checkpoint Charlie, past the 'Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe' memorial, past the Brandenburg Gate and then to the Reichstag.
Once we'd been driving around Berlin for an hour or so, we found our way to Wombats Hostel, which is where we would be staying for the next two nights.
Another group had pulled in right ahead of us so we had to wait to check in.
Soon enough though we were in our rooms putting our linen on the beds.
I was sharing with Sam, Rhi and Dee. Dee didn't usually stay in rooms with the kids on tour, she usually has her own room. But there was a couple on the tour who had their anniversary that night so Dee was super nice and let them have a private room.
With the rooms all sorted, we went down to dinner. Soup for entree and Schnitzel with chips for dinner.
Seeing as this group of people really loved to drink, we went out to get some. We ended up at this latino style club, which was super expensive. So instead of drinking to feel relaxed and comfortable enough to drink, I had a mental pep talk with myself. And the most surprising thing is, that worked.
So I danced without the influence of alcohol and got with Scotty at this club.
And in the the taxi that we shared to the next club. Ad when we were at this club. Whoops.
Then because I was feeling super guilty again, sent him off to find other girls. Which all the boys lucked out with. And the girls too actually.
We all sucked at hooking up with people that weren't on our tour to be completely honest.
Around 4am we went back to Wombats, where we had a contest in the lobby of who could do the best heel clicks. Chris won incase anyone is wondering. The boys would not go to bed, and I wanted to make sure they did before I left them. And they eventually did.
Then I got locked out of my room. Fantastic. So knocking on the boys room, I could still hear them carrying on. They let me in, and were going to let me stay. Lindo gave up his bed for me which was rather lovely.
And just after I had finally put my head to the pillow, the boys decided to do a line of cocaine each. Fantastic. This kind of annoyed the absolute crap out of me, but I couldn't do anything about it because they had already done it. So I didn't get any sleep that night, I felt responsible for them and had to make sure they didn't die or something in their sleep.
