defences pared

secrets shared

hearts bared

our souls aligned

perfectly seamless

daylight came

that strong braid

frayed

unravelled

shredded by the sun

the weave

suddenly ephemeral

dispersed by dawn

slipping through

my fingers

tilting

off kilter

i blinked
