How do you deal with sensory overload, Niji?
... huh. That's— y'know, I don't think anyone's asked me that before.
I, uh... it's not a new thing. Had it all my life. Same way Ichiji had some vision problems, Yonji had his stupid little joint thing, and Reiju always pecked like a bird at her food. Used to just suck it up and deal with it. We all did, but it got a lot worse recently. A lot worse. I didn't really... fuck, this feels so stupid to admit.
I didn't know what to do. I was damn near catatonic from it all, felt like I was trapped in my own damn skin. It took the Doc going back in for further re- and de-modification before it got back to a bearable point.
Now, I uh... turn off the lights, put my headphones on. Put my goggles on. See if I can snag a weighted... thingie. Blanket, sibling, whatever. Sometimes, exercise helps. Kitten taught me breathing techniques. Those... don't always work, but they can.
