2k followers event, request no.1 : Cuddling with Rin after a long day while you both share your daily struggles with each other.
You are currently standing outside Rin Itoshi's apartment door with your shoulders sagging and your bag hanging halfway off one arm.
Everything hurts.
Your legs are aching from standing too long at your part-time job, your eyes are burning from staying awake for assignments and your head feels heavy from trying to memorize things for exams that no longer makes sense. You can't even remember the last time you slept properly.
And the worst part?
You haven't seen Rin in days.
Between your schedule and his training, the timing had been awful. Every time you wanted to visit him, something got in the way. Every time he wanted to see you, you were either asleep, busy or half dead from exhaustion.
So now, with the spare key he gave you weeks ago, you decide enough is enough.
You pull it from your pocket and unlock the door.
The apartment is quiet, which means Rin isn't home yet.
You slip inside anyway, closing the door softly behind you and immediately feel some of the tension leave your body. His place always feels calm. It's clean, neat and everything is exactly where it should be. There's also a faint scent of laundry detergent and the cologne Rin pretends he doesn't wear.
"Very Rin-like."
You smile to yourself.
After dropping your bag by the couch, you head straight to the shower.
Hot water runs over your skin, easing the ache in your shoulders, loosening the knots in your back. You stay there longer than intended, letting yourself breathe for what feels like the first time all week.
When you step out, you dry off and go to his room only to open his closet like you own the place.
Which, honestly, you kind of do.
You grab one of his shirts and a pair of sweatpants. And as expected, the clothes swallows you whole.
Just perfect.
"Why are your clothes unfairly comfortable..." you mutter, shuffling to his bed, intending to wait him. But the sheets smell like him, the room is cool and your body has finally gotten the chance to rest.
So within minutes you fall asleep.

When you wake up, the room is dim.
You blink slowly and realize a blanket is wrapped around your body carefully, snug up to your shoulders.
Then you look beside you.
Rin is sitting against the headboard next to you, one knee raised, laptop balanced there. A football match replay plays quietly on the screen.
"You're awake."
"Yup."
You smile lazily and push yourself up, hair messy, eyes still heavy with sleep. Then you crawl straight into his side and wrap your arms around his waist.
Rin stays still for half a second, then wraps an arm around your waist. You bury your face into his shoulder.
"I missed you."
He exhales softly through his nose.
You squeeze him tighter.
"I really missed you."
This time there's a pause before he answers. "Me too."
His hand moves once over your back and your chest melts.
Rin finally glances down at you, eyes narrowing slightly.
"You look tired."
"I am tired."
He lifts a hand to your face, thumb brushing lightly under your eye.
"You're not sleeping enough."
The touch is so gentle that your heart nearly gives out.
"You noticed?"
"It's obvious and you also look thinner."
You gasp dramatically and grab his cheeks.
"Rin Itoshi notices my weight loss?"
"Don't make this weird."
You just giggle and kiss his cheek.
"Thank you for caring."
Rin doesn’t answer but his ears tint pink instantly. You grin, then you slump against him again.
"Work is awful," you mumble. "Assignments and exams are designed by sadists."
"You always say that." Rin says, as he reaches beside him, grabs the water bottle from the nightstand and hands it to you without looking. "Drink."
You take it obediently.
"Yes, boss."He gives you a flat stare and then sighing, he just resumes the replay on his laptop again.
A player misplaces a pass in the replay.
Rin clicks his tongue.
"Lukewarm."
You look at the screen. "Which one?"
"The midfielder."
"That ugly one?"
"They all look normal."
"Not to me. He looks annoying."
"He is annoying."
"I hate him then."
Rin glances at you.
"You don't even know him."
"I trust your judgment."
His mouth twitches a bit and you notice immediately.
"You're smiling."
"I'm not."
"You are."
He shakes his head faintly, but there's softness in it now. No resistance, no sharpness, just Rin being Rin, quietly fond in every way except words.
You lean your chin on his shoulder.
"You know it feels like we're an old married couple."
He pauses the replay.
Then, in the calmest tone possible, he says—"We already are."
You freeze.
"What?"
He just looks back at the screen like he didn't just destroy you emotionally.
"You use my key, you wear my clothes, you sleep in my bed, you steal my blanket—"
"I did not steal—"
"And I let you."
His eyes slide to yours.
"If I didn't plan on keeping you, I would've changed the locks."
Your face burns.
"You.... You can't say things like that so casually."
"Well I had to make sure you know."
"You're insane."
Rin just sighs again and closes the laptop. Then he turns to you and opens one arm slightly.
An invitation.
You immediately crawl into it.
He wraps both arms around you and pulls you close against his chest. Secure, warm, like this is where you belong.
You hide your face in his shirt.
"You're so unfair."
"Aren't you the one who came here uninvited?"
"I have a key and you gave it to me. So I'm invited permanently."
Rin burys his face into your hair and smiles. "Seems that way."
You clutch him tighter. He rests his chin lightly on the top of your head.
"You need sleep," he murmurs.
"I need you."
"Well, you're getting both."
Your heart nearly explodes.
"Rin Itoshi," You tilt your head up slowly. "You're a loverboy."
His ears turn pink again.
"Go to sleep."
"You love me so bad."
Instead of answering you, Rin pulls the blanket over you both and presses your head back to his chest.
"...Sleep," he repeats, quieter this time, trying to stay nonchalant.
But the way his hand keeps smoothing over your hair gives him away completely.

Due to the recent Sonic Racing Crossworld, I wanted to do something based off of that. If you were around for the 1.5k follower event, it follows a similar premise.

Simply insert your OC (or canon character, those are acceptable!) into the left area to race CALYX!
Also remember to add a location behind them. It can be literally anywhere, a screenshot of a game location (like Minecraft, as shown in the example), a real picture of a real place (but keep in mind this is the internet. Please practice internet safety and do not give anything away that could be obvious to your location), or a drawing!
GUIDELINES!
1. NO AI SLOP! If you are caught using AI, immedient disqualification. I'll probably plan a public execution for you. (jk jk but seriously. don't.)
2. ANY MEDIA IS OKAY! seriously. Not an digital artist? that's okay! take a pic, run it through remove.bg and voila! However, you have to be the one that brought it into this world.
3. ANY CHARACTER IS OKAY! While it is an OC specific event, if there's a canon character you just love love love, even if it's not from Sonic, that's also okay! It is Crossworlds.
4. YOU HAVE 1 MONTH! The event STARTS at Sep 3, it will end on Oct 3, 12:00am PST. You can still submit but it will not be considered for the prize.

There will be 3 winners through a lottery based pull. Your skill level doesn't matter so long as you submit something YOU created and had fun with.
All three winners will receive a rendered, simple bg, piece of ONE SONIC CHARACTER of their choosing. Can be an OC! I'd prefer a reference sheet but descriptions are OKAY. I may have to check in with you through the process to make sure it is to your liking. :)
