On this day in 2007, Bioshock was released for the Xbox 360 and Windows PC in Australia and Europe. The game was developed in part by Australia's very own 2K Studio with assistance from 2K Boston. Bioshock is set in 1960. You play as Jack, who has just survived a plane crash that landed within swimming distance of a lighthouse that turns out to be a bathysphere station that leads to the underwater city of Rapture. The city was intended to be a Utopian society, however, as you discover, the city is far from its intended goal, instead, it is a city in ruin. The discovery of a substance called ADAM, a genetic material that grants a person superhuman abilities has led to a decline in the cities success and caused its inhabitants to become greedy and psychotic. Jack (you) must navigate the underwater city, eliminate or evade the aggressive locals using a variety of weapons and genetic enhancements. Your ultimate goal, escape the underwater city and return home. There are moral choices to make in this game related to the treatment of 'little sisters' who carry a large amount of ADAM, the substance, and source of your super human strength. Kill the child and get a large amount of ADAM or let her live and gain a small amount. A creature called a Big Daddy also protects the children, be wary of these foes. They are extremely powerful. I have fonder memories of this game, the story and atmosphere is a highlight and this is one of the best games of the 7th console generation. Bioshock spawned two sequels and has been released on many platforms. The best way to play Bioshock is on the Bioshock Collection that has been released for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I highly recommend this game. #thisdayingaming #onthisdaygaming #todayingaming#videogamehistory #videogames #xbox#xbox360 #XboxOne #XboxOneS #PlayStation3 #PS3 #PlayStation #PlayStation4 #Bioshock #Bioshock2 #BioshockInfinite #BioshockTheCollection #Bioshock10yearanniversary #2Kstudios #2KAustralia #2KBoston #PC #PersonalComputer
