Just thought about some Kara and Lena similarities I wanted to point out. My brother was pointing out how different they are and I just want to share this theory.
So Kara had two parents that were together, one of which used her as a child and she was extremely distant (different kinda dead planet and all). I know it's a stretch but the core parts of the character are similar to Lillian, powerful and all.
Additionally, they both have siblings names Alex and both felt more safe with a single parent. Lena's mum and Eliza. The fathers for those families both ended up kinda dead (Jeremiah maybe?) but both times Alex was the one to welcome them into the family. The reveal of Astra being kinda bad to Kara in season 1 and the reveal to Lena about Lillian in season 2.
Even more, if Kara had stayed on Krypton she would probably be a brilliant scientist because she loved that stuff with her day while her mum gave her power. Lena is the other way round because as brilliant as she already was, her talents were forced to be used for show and science.
Finally, Lena with her mum would've been focused on helping people more than she does now, that is her mother's presence, while Kara uses her powers to help people now. When she first arrived she wanted to make the most of them, being a hero was her priority as opposed to specifically helping others. Alex and Lex helped shape these two to become who they are now and Kara's red kryptonite thoughts about her sister could easily be Lena talking to Lex.
I like to think that Kara and Lena are two sides of the same coin, one of the reasons they get on so well. Having these sort of flipped stories shows how they're still good people, partly because the other is there. (After Mon-El left and the helicopter incident according to the 100th episode.) Now I know with the identity drama it may seem bleak for those two but at the end of the day they're important to keeping each other human. Lena being influenced by Lex, gaining this negative character is a similar storyline to Kara losing Mon-el. Lena feels like she lost Kara in the same way. Still, without Kara, Lena can't quite heal, or maybe she can. The only similarity I can see for this is that Kara is Lena's Mon-el in the sense that when she comes back there will be some feelings left as residue. They may not specifically be romantic at this time but they will find themselves looking towards each other again.
The similarities are just really interesting, they'll be back.
