Forgot to post this on December second so here you go!
THE TRUTH OF BLACK IRON...
Well, we’ll get to Black Iron in a minute! But the truth is that we’ve watched this new trailer for The Callisto Protocol five times back to back... And we see no reason to slow down! If you ever needed further evidence that this is a game refusing to live in the dark shadows of Dead Space, here it is. Lol, like you needed further evidence.
Ever since its announcement at The Game Awards in December 2020, we’ve been nabbing every crumb of info and footage linked with this beauty from Striking Distance Studios, and consuming with fearful smiles on our faces. We’d like to point out that the link we make between Callisto and Dead Space is not purely because they’re survival horror games set in, uhh, space. No, they are actually drawn from the same mastermind brain of Glen Schofield! You may also recognise him from a little ol’ thing named Call of Duty... It’s got a few fans.
By now you’ll already know that we’ll play as Jacob Lee. An inmate of Black Iron Prison - a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter's Dead Moon, Callisto. Does life get any worse? Short answer is “YEP.” The long answer can be found in this new trailer. Watch it again, go on.
After your fellow inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures (putting it lightly), it’s abundantly clear that this was no accidental occurrence. Survival is your main objective, whilst uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto and the Black Iron Prison itself!
“This isn’t about escape, Jacob. Not anymore.”
Sitting down at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live this summer, we saw a gameplay trailer of epic proportions that made Callisto one of our most anticipated games of 2022. The privately presented extended trailer shown to us by Striking Distance themselves the following day - that was just the icing on the cake.
The blend of horrifying atmosphere, tension, and over-the-top brutality are all further telltale signs of Dead Space influence, but with the games having an almost two month gap between launch dates - as well as Callisto being a brand new story with such strong pre-order content (these trailers are mini horror movies, man!) our excitement for The Callisto Protocol’s release on 2nd December is truly unrivalled!
Pre-order the Day One Edition with us and you’ll receive the PlayStation exclusive Contraband Pack, as well as the Retro Prisoner Skins on all formats.

“SOME BAD STUFF HAPPENED HERE...”
Call us dramatic, but that just might be the understatement of the century. We mean, if what we’d seen already wasn’t enough to confirm that things have gone absolutely pear shaped on Jupiter’s Dead Moon, then perhaps we need a lesson in reading the room. The room being the Dead Moon. Say that 10 times fast.
Yesterday saw The Callisto Protocol’s Launch Trailer appear from the black abyss and onto the world wide web, giving us an even bloody deeper insight into Jacob Lee’s situation. Which, lets face it, is f**ked. What? It’s an 18+ game. If language is upsetting your stomach then we’d suggest you find yourself a different title for the festive period - or risk said stomach contents painting your living room. Can’t see that going down well at Christmas.
What dark mysteries await at the heart of the powerful United Jupiter Company? Deformed fellow inmates with a thirst for flesh and making a mess might only be the face of the problem. Well, faces. Deformed, we told you.
Striking Distance Studios and Glen Schofield have pushed the boundaries of time and space to shape what looks to be one of the best titles of 2022, albeit a bit late for The Game Awards’ GOTY contention! A little premature considering we haven’t gotten hands on? Perhaps - but when we culminate what we saw at Gamescom with what’s been shown since, as well as factoring in the brains behind this operation - we feel comfortable behind such bold predictions.
There’s nothing left to do but cross the days off on the calendar until release day on 2nd December. It’s almost like being in prison, eh...
Pre-order with us on all formats here at The Game Collection!
