She raised her hand to knock on the door, pausing when she heard the clatter of something hitting the floor. Gun drawn, she slipped into the room silently to find Carter on the floor, hands over her face, sobbing. The assassin holstered her gun, kneeling next to the woman, gently reaching a hand out to rest on Peggy’s shoulder.

everything she tried to remember hurt more and more. flashbacks, only vague, from her days of being the winter soldier. she saw people one minute, crowded and scurrying away, screaming people in fright of her. the next a barron ghost town with heaps of those corpses who tried to run. a figure of twenty one girls, lined up and ready for order. some more hurt than others, some more disorientated. one girl now, older, hair burning brighter than the sun. they were close, so close, close enough to-- her vision was cut but the feeling on someone next to her. no matter who, peggy back away, in worry of somehow hurting them like she had everyone else. she had hit her bureau, hearing her belongings fall down and smash.
