"He is none of my concern anymore."
"But you loved him" her voice barely rose above a whisper.
"Oh, oh yes, I thought I did, but we all mistake a first love to be something more than a memory."
My words were all pressed out of love. I had used it all up on him.
"He is very much present."
There was a smile hidden in her words because she didn't understand the meaning of mine.
"Indeed and that is the unfortunate thing."
"So you didn't love him?"
"Why? Do you?"
"No, but it does seem strange to me to spend so much time with a person you didn't even love. It seems like you wasted your time" she sighed.
"It's not that I didn't love him, but maybe I loved him too much. We have a way of putting our futures in people that can't even handle their own. We have a way of destroying them with our love and in a way he has destroyed me too."
