1. I can crack eggs using only one hand.

It's a random flex, but it's first because I'm quite proud of myself for learning 🥚

2. I have an affinity for postage stamp & coin collecting.

Some may say that's an old-granny thing, and I would wholeheartedly agree. It was a point of bonding between my wife's late grandmother and I... We both found them interesting! ✉️

3. I love to cook. And eat. And read/watch/talk about food.

I always joke that it's my first love in the world. Food was also very important to my immediate, tight-knit family growing up. So it's a big part of my life (maybe my personality too 😂)

1. 3 things you wish for

Okay the first one is the big one. For Biden-Harris to win in a landslide, for the people to band together to ensure Biden can take office no matter what T***p does in response to the election results, for Democrats to hold the House and win the Senate, for our country to manage not to slide any more to the right, for our fragile “democracy” to rebuild some spine, and for the Green New Deal resolution to find its way into our adopted policy to ensure a just transition for workers and some hope of the U.S. contributing positively to a planet that might continue to sustain life for humans a little longer, for progressives to coalition build in a realized vision for a liberated future for poor people, indigenous people, people of color, women and non-binary people, queer people, and disabled people. NO BIG DEAL RIGHT?!?!

The second one is also a big one. For my mask-wearing Midwest-dwelling parents to avoid contracting coronavirus and, more broadly, for a blend of policy/leadership and collective action that might actually allow us to get a handle on this nightmare of a pandemic.

And--LOL?!?!--for Netflix to still fund the final seasons of Grace and Frankie and Dead to Me so that the shows can reach their planned-for narrative ends?! (I haven’t seen anything to the contrary, but they’re doing so many cancellations lately even for things that were approved to move forward so it makes me kinda nervous just like everything makes me kinda nervous these days!)

8. 3 tv shows that you never get bored of

I’m not a big TV rewatcher--with some exceptions!--so my answer isn’t so much about what stands up to rewatches for me and more about how compelling I find the show itself.

Killing Eve - pretty much riveted every minute of that show

Grace and Frankie - Jane Fonda describes it as a show that centers representation of older women that will make you feel happy and hopeful; I describe it as the occasionally painful love story of the century that gives me lots of feelings about lesbianism (and it does stand-up to rewatches though some Robert-Sol fast-forwarding is what prevents any boredom from creeping in)

Great British Bake-Off - I do rewatch this one. I don’t pay attention the whole time. But it’s just this comforting thing that brings me joy no matter how many times I watch an episode. Especially the earlier seasons with Mary and Mel and Sue!

(I decided to limit myself to couples that are actually couples on the screen rather those that are apparently not actually quote-unquote-canon and somehow live only in fandom and/or my head, no matter how obviously the characters are in love or basically couples without the show runners recognizing it. this therefore turned out to be way more difficult than anticipated because I really did keep thinking, “well they must be—oh, no, just read some really great fic once.”)

bread! (yes, we have sourdough starter: his name is Mario, and we do in fact sing the Super Mario Brothers song at him. that said, my favorite of the breads we bake is challah.)

-a voice as soft as a chord played on a harp, makes people want to listen to her speak. befitting the queen of Fereldan

-eyes as blue as the Waking Sea and just as easy to get lost in. intensifies her every emotion whether good or bad

-the soft swish of a sword being pulled a scabbard. ever the warrior, even as queen

-wit as fast as the arrows she fires from her bow and just as deadly, both in her sarcasm and her cleverness 

-large ravens taking to the skies at night, silent and smart just like her, especially once taking over The Crows

-a face like that of a porcelain doll, betrays nothing unless she wishes it to, same with her bright green eyes

Thea Hawke:

-fresh fallen snow in the middle of the night, untouched by any living thing, just like her hair. 

-the scent of whiskey especially when combined with the shuffling of cards at the Hanged Man or Fenris’s mansion

-the sound of metal on metal, usually also followed by the dying screams of the vanquished

Amara Lavellan:

-soft hands moving pieces across the large wartable and pushing her hair behind her ear as she thinks, both at the chess table and the war room

-burning fires matching both her hair and her temper when provoked by certain actions such as slavery and persecution of her people

-bare feet covered in dirt, even as leader of the inquistion away from the dalish, she never much cared for shoes

Nyssa Lavellan:

-the sound of cracking lightning, hands shooting magic and eyes that spark the same

1. She left her small town in Readceras at seventeen after a pregnancy scare. She took a look at what her life would have looked like if she had gotten married and settled down and turned and ran when she could. (Her brother has also always wanted to travel, but died in the Saint’s War and never got a chance to go farther than the Dyrwood). She’s still very hesitant about the concept of marriage or children. Meeting Sagani, who has managed to be a mother and a hunter, has opened her mind to the concept a small bit.

2. Being from Readceras, she was raised Eothasian, but after her brother died in a war that seemed to be for nothing, she’s jaded on the concept of religion. However, she’s been infused enough with Eothasian philosophy that destroying the souls in Sun in Shadow by pledging to Galawain or Rymrgand seems anathema, so she pledges the souls to Berath. (Which surprised me, since I had originally been planning on pledging the souls to Galawain, but she was like, ‘nope.’)

3. She’s a dog person. She doesn’t really know what to do with cats, and Edér gets to take care of call the stray cats they pick up.
