The question has lingered in hip hop fans minds for sometime, articles have been written, documentary's have been made and countless debates have been had questioning who will likely be hip hop's 1st billionaire..
Dating back to Master P, the hip hop community has seen their beloved music make leaps and bounds in business by the hand of the artists themselves. No longer did we wait around for hand outs from corporate America, the hip hop community was shown how to grab the bull by the horns with nothing else but drive and a dream.
Jay-Z, Sean Combs, 50 Cent are all names that have been kicked around for good reason, with hip hop artists acquiring more and more respect in the corporate world due to the acquisitioning of various brands, corps and companies, hip hop artists have made it known that we are here to stay and can run game with the even the biggest dogs.
Yesterday via Facebook, Dr.Dre confirmed that not only is he selling beats to Apple for 3.2 billion dollars, but this deal will also solidify him as hip hops first billionaire!
I'm sure Dre is being congratulated enough, but we are definitely elated for the king of west, not because he is making more money than he will ever need, but because each time any component of any culture shows signs of progress, it's not just for the individual, but for the entire community to recognize these moments as collective growth and realize more doors are about to fly open for a culture of kids that nobody wanted at the party!!
I'm sure more great things will arise in the future due to this new deal between the 2 tech giants, and we are definitely interested to see where Apple takes Beats in the future.
