What about a mini ficlet about what’s curently going on with Yuuri and Viktor in your criminal minds AU? (✿◕‿◕) (also congrats on 300 followers)

Thank you Bria! Spoilers for my fic break its earth open,  I suppose, so I’ll drop this little ficlet below the cut.

(For others–read the fic first, please, it’ll be much better that way!)

I’m taking prompts to celebrate hitting 300 followers!

Things in Yuuri’s life always seemed to happen all at once.One moment it was a quiet Thursday afternoon and he was eating lunch at hisdesk. The next, as he began to crumple up his brown paper lunch bag to throwaway, Emil tried to stop him to talk and his cell phone began to ring atexactly the same time.

‘Viktor Nikiforov’ flashed on the screen; Emil made a ‘goahead’ gesture and Yuuri picked it up.

“Hey,” he said. “Can I call you back?”

Living across the world from each other most of the timemeant that their lives rarely overlapped neatly; they were used to tradingcalls back and forth nearly a dozen times, trying to catch one another at agood moment. Yuuri was already anticipating Viktor’s quick ‘of course’ and soit took him a moment to process the momentary silence.

“Viktor?”

“Ah,” Viktor said, and Yuuri could hear the guilt in his voice. “I just need you for five minutes.”

Word choice in a third language, in Yuuri’s experience, wasnever particularly precise. But the combination of Viktor’s tone, how strainedhis voice was, and need…

He mouthed “I’ll be right back,” at Emil and darted into thehall.

“Okay,” Yuuri said, trying to keep his voice steady. “Whatdo you need?”

“Ah, it’s stupid,” Viktor said.

“It’s not stupid,” Yuuri replied immediately. “What is it?”

“I just need to go downstairs,” Viktor said miserably. “AndI didn’t want to do it alone.”

“Oh,” Yuuri said, and exhaled. “Of course.”

“I’m sorry,” Viktor said. “It’s—what, one there? You’restill at work.”

“I have time,” Yuuri said. He heard the ding of an arrivingelevator. “I always have time for you.”

Viktor breathed out a laugh. “Thank you. It would have beenfine, though, if you hadn’t.”

“Would it?” Yuuri asked, careful to keep his voice neutraland non-accusatory.

“Well,” Viktor considered. “I would have taken the stairs.”

“What floor are you on?”

“Only eight.”

“You did a free skate today and you have an exhibitiontomorrow!” Yuuri said, alarmed. “What have you been doing the rest of the time?”

“I was with other people,” Viktor said. “That doesn’t botherme, now.”

“You can call me anytime, you know,” Yuuri says carefully. “Evenif it’s late, even if I’m at work. If I really can’t talk I might not pick up,but you can always call me.”

“I know,” Viktor said. Yuuri could hear another ding, therush of doors. “All done. I’ll let you go.”

Yuuri counted time zones in his head. “Don’t you have to goback up?”

“Yes,” Viktor said. “After I talk to the front desk.”

“Call me back, then,” Yuuri said.

“I asked you for five minutes,” Viktor said. “You don’t needto—”

“I’m giving you another five,” Yuuri said. “Call me back.”

He could hear the smile in Viktor’s voice. “I’ll talk to yousoon, then.”

Yuuri replied, “I’ll be here.”
