Day: 28 Throwback to when my sewing area was actually somewhat clean and tidy. RIP. I can’t even access it now with all the things that have piled up. • I used to work on all my costumes in that corner but as of late, I’ve been setting up my sewing machine and serger on a table in the living room when I need to work. Anything messy gets worked on outside or on the floor with newsprint/flyers underneath. And all my pattern drafting and cutting happens on a huge table I only haul out when needed. • I don’t have a picture for it but most of my costumes are stored in garment bags on a stand alone clothing rack on the mid landing of the stairs to the second floor of my house. The other few remaining pieces that aren’t stored there are stashed somewhere in my room or somewhere in the black hole that my sewing corner has become. Oh, and my Jawa and Rey hang in the front entryway cause they need somewhere to air our after their vodka/Lysol baths. Day: 27 Okay we’ll start out with my crappy wigs and go from there. Altogether I have 10 wigs. • I have a really terrible short black one and a really cheap purple one—both not pictured—that I kind of want to pretend done exist anymore. The black and grey one was something I got for a witch costume at Walmart during Halloween years ago. Short pink was supposed to be for Natsu before I decided to do Fem!Natsu. Really long blonde one was supposed to be for Thranduil but I took out the braid in the back and accidentally ruined it. The last one in this pic I actually used for Thranduil but it’s not a lace front so it doesn’t wear as nice as I’d like it to. • Second pic are my nicer wigs. Surprisingly enough, I got all of them from AliExpress and they’re actually really nice for being super cheap. The red, black, and pink wigs at the top are actually the same style in different colours. Black was just cause I liked it, red for fem!707 from Mystic Messenger, pink for fem!Natsu from Fairy Tail. They’re probably my most favourite because they’re comfortable, pretty, and have nice coverage of my natural hair. I’m probably going to get several more colours in the future. Lastly is my Harley wig. It’s actually a really nice short wig on its own without the pigtails. The pigtails are really just massive hair clips wrapped in wefts. They work separately as ponytails too. I dyed their tips red with ink for Harley. Day: 26 Okay these are only the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I’ve got plans and ideas for dozens of costumes but I think these are the only 5 I actually have any headway on. And the cat is out of the bag for all of them, although I did initially intend for some of them to be secrets. • The Puppeteer from ACIV multiplayer was something I started back when I first started cosplaying. And I don’t know if it’ll ever be finished cause I lost half my work somewhere in my mess of sewing. • Palanquin is a recent project. I have the skirt fabric and half a gun. If I don’t finish her soon I’ll be kinda disappointed with myself. • Fem!707 from Mystic messenger is going on 2 years now. I have all the stuff cut out, just need to sew it. It will eventually be finished. • Fem!Natsu from Fairy Tail is also a long time project now. And I don’t know if I’ll finish unless I start over cause I started it before school and it’s really poor quality. I can’t even look at it. • And lastly, Iden Versio from Star Wars Battlefront II is close to being done. Day: 24 My most comfortable costume is my Slytherin student. So much so that I often wear it as everyday clothing. The best part about it is that if the whole costume is on, it’s warm for the winter but if I take layers off to cool down in the summer, I’m still canonically in costume. I can also wear it with a skirt or pants depending on how I feel. The whole costume is very versatile and interchangeable. Also, my robe has massive pockets so I never have to carry a bag with me. • My least comfortable costume is probably my mando. Sintra doesn’t really breathe so it gets kinda moist under those plates. My bracers also give my wrists mad armour bite. And tbh, the helmet is kinda hard to breathe in too. But the extra warmth makes for an awesome napping costume. If I’m in my costume and I haven’t moved in a while, it’s safe to assume I’m nodding off under there. The other thing is that my mando is really uncomfortable to pack. The shin plates are susceptible to breaking and the ears on my helmet have broken twice, much to my dismay. Day: 22 I do casual cosplay all the time. Last year I went to my job as casual Pharah (Overwatch), casual Harley (DC Bombshells), and casual Natsu (Fairy Tail). I’ve also worn my Slytherin uniform (sans robe) to one of my old jobs, school and just for everyday use countless times. Day: 20 First off, none of these wins were at a con or anything. So, funny story. The year I joined the 501st/Rebel legion, Star Wars Celebration was being held across the pond. I sure as hell didn’t have the funds to go having just lost my job and such. As it were, a big part of my garrison couldn’t make it either. So, we got together and planned a “Not at Celebration Party”. The RL CO made us take con passes, we traded merch, and held a costume contest. I was one of 2 people who dressed up and won myself some cool patches (the first of my legion merch collection). We drank and ate and just had an overall great time. It wasn’t the same as SW Celebration but it was a damn good attempt. • My second win was at my Costume College’s costume contest. I won with my mando. It was a really great feeling to be recognized for all my hard work.
