11) Favorite romantic pairing
This has GOT to be Gajevy! There’s literally no other pairing that makes a dent than these two. The growth from Gajeel “crucifying” her on the tree to helping her out with Tenrou to where they are now is very palpable and sweet. I also love the fact that there is a lot left to the imagination (not like that you little perv) in the series. Mashima doesn’t just lay it all out or even draw much attention to it and I love that!
2. I love the contrast between them. It truly is beauty and the beast with these two, but with a much angstier Beauty and a teddy bear, rockstar Beast. I can appreciate cliche tropes like the brains and the brawn ending up together.
3. But honestly the best part is the fact that I like both of their characters as stand alones. a. Levy is a solid character. She’s smart, cute, and brave. She was the first one to step up and say she’s willing to forgive Gajeel (and Juvia) for what he did while he was still in Phantom Lord and accept him as a member of Fairy Tail. She stood up to him while on Tenrou (even though it was a minor squabble between guild mates) and smacked him with her bag hard enough to send him to the ground. She was willing to die just so he could have support while fighting the blood dude and lied to him even though she knew she would die.
b. Gajeel is a flippin cool dude and boy does he have confidence. He knows he’s nasty and he enjoys making other people feel uncomfortable with it! He isn’t afraid to be honest about who he loves and fight for them (he would literally sell his soul to Natsu himself for Levy and Lily). He’s also a bit insecure as any good character should be! For instance, he talked about how he was the last dragon slayer to get a cat and to get dragon force and yada yada yada and it makes me wanna give him a hug :’(
4. Lily is the best wingman/stan and I live for it.
Also the fan art is very much so the best.
