This summer I had the opportunity to spend five weeks in French Polynesia.  The best way to describe these jaw-droppingly beautiful islands is Hawaii on a baguette. All the wonders of a tropical beach plus insanely delicious French food everywhere you go. 

And you know what pairs well with good food and good scenery? Good fics. 

Yep, I was reading fanfiction on the beach. And while I wasn’t able to stuff you into my suitcase, I did bring you back  some fabulous recs to get you into those relaxing vacation vibes wherever you are!

(Bonus! All of these fics were written for our very own 31 Days of Flash Fiction event, so they are hot off the press!) 

How it Will End by Zee Grindylows

For our first summer getaway read, how about some travel? Time travel, that is. Hermione has traveled back into the past to see if Severus Snape knows the key to saving the future. The Dark Lord is rising again, time is running out, and Snape’s Journal cries out for Bellaria. It’s twisty. It’s dark. It will hook you until the very end. (This fic packs a punch, so maybe bring tissues.) 

Runaway Love by Raccoon Loom 

In this fic, Hermione and Snape correspond while he lives on a faraway island. And by that I mean he’s a prisoner in Azkaban. 

It’s a swoony fic about lonely people falling in love, includes a daring rescue, and has an excellent last line. 

Neville Writes Fanfiction by Kittie Pie

This story-within-a-story features  Neville’s character Professor Snake who is dark and scary and definitely not at all based on Severus Snape and his love for Harmony Danger. The real question is, what will happen when Snape finds out? 

This one got more than a few shoutouts on our discord server and made many of us laugh out loud. It’s lighthearted and fun, and a bit irreverent. I suspect you will love it.  

Might as Well by Xoxkharisma

Molly Weasley is on a mission to see Hermione and Severus happily matched. She has nothing better to do than meddle anyways, now that Harry and Ginny are married. It doesn’t matter if Snape told her to stay out of it. (What does he know about love anyways?) All they need is one, little, teeny-tiny, life threatening push. 

I am a sucker for fics with meddling matchmakers and this perfectly scratched the itch. It was darling and feel good and oh-so-cute.
