I've decided to run a fun little SSHG minifest/bingo, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. For the months of June-July, you are invited to submit something smutty to the Smutty Summer Bingo collection. This can be anything you want (with appropriate tags) — it’s basically a free-for-all. Submissions will open on June 1st and will close on the 31st July (Note: existing submissions do not have to be complete by the end of the month, you can update them as you like)

RETURNING EVENT!!

Hello Folks!

Instead of hosting Trope Week this year, we are bringing back a classic fest with some new twists! We will host the return of Scratch-That-Niche Fest, this time the *Trope Edition*.

For those who are newer, Scratch-That-Niche or STN for short, is one of our earlier popular events (running in 2021/2022), and it was an adjudicated competition focused on rare pairs in the background of SSHG.

We are making some changes to the format this time around.

First, we are shifting focus from rare pairs to rare tropes in SSHG. 

Secondly, it's not judged as it was before (on a points based rubric), rather this year we will be running a number of polls.

Thirdly, we aren't providing prompts, rather a list of rare tropes we polled off of several writing groups, but, you can still use any of the prompts we've had for any previous events (a list is being curated so you can have access to them), or your own prompts.

Event Details; It will go from May 1st to May 31st, with the last submissions being accepted to the collection on June 1st, 7:00pm EST. 

Polling will be from June 1 -June 15th with awards presented shortly after on the 16th-17th depending on how much math I have to do.

Welcome to the first week of Finish Your Fic Fest!

If you are already working on your WIP, fantastic! If you aren't and aren't sure where to start, one of the ways to motivate yourself is to set a clear goal! So for the first day of FYF Fest, lets start with setting the bar on what we want to achieve by the end of it. There are many ways to go about that - none better or worse than others. Some of our team will be using the SMART method. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely.

A few goals examples:

I will finish X fic, by writing five chapters in two months.

I will write 200 words every day, good or bad, no matter what. (The Terry Pratchett Method)

I will write one chapter for X Fic by the end of this fest.

I want to get a Bingo on the FYF Bingo Card! ⁠finish-your-fic-fest⁠

COMING SOON!! Finish Your Fic Fest 26

The time as come again Folks! This fest has only one goal in mind, and that is to help you finish your fic(s).

Instead of focusing on creating new works, we are going to focus on those fics that you've just not had the time for because of other commitments.

From February 1st to March 31st we are challenging writers to conquer their writer's block with group motivation and sprints and supporting writers who struggle to get the finish line.

Finish Your Fic Fest Activities

•FYF Bingo: Everyone loves a game of BINGO and it is a simple way to create a sense of competition with yourself. This BINGO is not like any of our other events BINGO where the assumed goal is to fill out the whole card. There aren't points, but, getting a BINGO can give you some bragging rights. It is meant to be a tool that you can use to encourage yourself and to share with others so that we can cheer you on as well.

•Scheduled Sprints Saturdays: Every Saturday we will be hosting several scheduled sprints (every 6 or so hours) on the server to help motivate each other. The buddy system at it's finest! You will be able to start your own sprints as well during this time.

•Snippet Sharing: Share your favorite snippet of your WIP! Let us hype you to the finish line.

•WIP Reading Exchange: Trade WIPs with other writers and each read and comment on them and if you really like it, recommend it to your friends to read as well.

•Evil Author Day: Evil Author Day is the fandom day (Feb 15th) where you post fics that may never be finished, and still let it be celebrated for what it is.

•Weekly Comment Challenge: Every week we are going to challenge you to read at least one WIP/update and comment on what you liked best about it.
