Vandaag is het Wereld Niet Roken Dag! 🚭

Een internationale dag waarop vele rokers in ieder geval één dag niet roken!

Ieder jaar staan wij alle stil staan bij de schade die roken wereldwijd aanricht.

Vorig jaar werd er aandacht gevraagd voor de onnodige schade die de tabaksindustrie aan het milieu aanbrengt en de meer dan 8 miljoenen jaarlijkse veroorzaakte doden.

Dit jaar staat de dag in het teken van de meer dan 5 miljoen voetbalvelden aan tabaksplantages die de ruimte van de voedselvoorziening innemen en de grond uitputten.

"We need food, not tobacco."

Stop 1 dag met roken voor de gezondheid van jijzelf en de aarde.

The Beatles at what looks to be a relaxed and informal recording session on 31st May 1968 for ‘Revolution’ (which eventually became Revolution 1). They were visited by Twiggy during the session (and I think that looks like Lulu?!)

31st May 1911: The White Star Liner, Titanic, is officially launched into the Victoria Channel from the Harland & Wolff shipyard. Fitting out commences following a successful launch at 12:13PM. She took 62 seconds to slide into the Ocean across a mixture of whale oil, soap, tallow and grease - and in the process injured a single worker who was removing the stay-timbers. He would later die in hospital. There was no pomp or ceremony (being White Star Policy) and work immediately began on the ship's funnels, boilers, engines, rooms et al. Her launch tonnage was 24,360 tons, and would reach over 22,000 tons heavier following fitting and registration.
