365 Showtunes DAY 362: THE WIZ - Home
Here's Norm Lewis singing a gender-bent version of Home from The Wiz, at Broadway Backwards at the Al Hirschfield Theater in New York City, on March 24, 2014.
Feel free to remove this personal story part when you reblog:
Last night, I hung out with a bunch of my old friends from my community theatre group. It's been years since I spent time with that particular group, and it was so wonderful to just pick up where I left off with them. One of the girls, the one hosting our little gathering, had made the move to New York right before I did, and she and I spent time together in the city (when we could - we were both going grad programs so busybusybusy!) and we said last night that it was weird seeing each other back in Thornhill.
The first show I did with that troupe, and with a few of those people who were there last night, was The Wiz. I was saving this video and this song to use for when I went back to New York - but it's not happening for me in 2014 again. I'll be back soon, I hope, but it won't be this year. So believing that home can be with people as much as at a place, I think last night's gathering is an absolutely perfect reason to post this song. <3
