Sometimes I think about my little world I run and how it’s not just strictly v5. Like v5 is the foundation (with mechanics, character sheets, disciplines, etc.)

However, I pull in a lot of lore, bloodlines, and other things from other editions that I find interesting

I also do change/exclude some things from v5 that I dislike (such as how dementation and vicissitude are separate disciplines and not amalgams)

Adding the one piece of vtm Ohio lore I know off the top of my head to the history of my universe

For those curious, this is the piece of lore I am referencing:

The Players Guide to the Sabbat p. 45

To expand on this, I’m calling this event the Cincinnati Caitiff Massacres. Those who were able to escape this ended up being Columbus refugees

Then, after the formation of the Panders, a group of them headed to Cincinnati and engage in guerilla warfare to drive out the Lasombras that caused the massacres (hence why there is no Lasombra in current day Cincinnati and how there is so few in Ohio itself)

Also, as Columbus’s Caitiff population started to increase and word spread about what happened in Cincinnati, many of Columbus’s kindred started to get suspicious of the Caitiff and were afraid that they would try to take over Columbus. This is referred to as the Purple Scare in-universe

In case anyone was wondering, here’s my top SPCs (in no particular order):

Vanity (the oddball oddities shop owner who likes freaking ppl out)

Sassy LeBlanc (gossiping harpy who has more going on with her than meets the eye)

Dr. David Xiao (just a dude who wants to research the vampiric condition—both physical and mental)

Hemlock Greenwood (tired af Bahari who is determined to get his Garden of Renewal off the ground by offering it as a body dumping site to the anarchs)

To preface this, I am currently trying to develop my WOD universe. It’s mainly set in Ohio with Columbus as the main setting. However, I have also decided to include the other two Bigs C cities in my game (Cincinnati and Cleveland)

So, to start off my more in detail worldbuilding, I decided to read the only VTM book I know that’s setting is in Ohio—Blood Nativity (1991)

It’s basically a guide for an introductory chronicle set in Cleveland. It’s not too long as it’s only 17 pages in total. So it’s a fairly easy read (except the font. I’m not a big fan of it since it hurts my eyes)

Anyways, here’s some noteworthy things I have discovered:

The city is run by one Prince Bartholomew (of an undetermined clan) and his four Lieutenants. They are always trying to one up each other

There is an informal organization called The Union Council. It’s basically kindred who like the Camarilla, but are wary of it as a political machine. They haven’t petitioned to be formally recognized within the city due to the Lieutenants. Also, as a little note, the White Wolf wiki states that the Union Council is the ruling faction in Cleveland and are led by the prince and the lieutenants. (This is a mistake)

So, the Lieutenants are causing havoc in the city by having minions go to kindred ran business and trying to cause masquerade breaches. That way the kindred are preoccupied with the threat of masquerade breeches than trying to actually gain power

This leads into the actual chronicle start: members of the Union Council decide they are going to embrace people so that they are more stable and can gain independence from the Camarilla. The players are those that have just been embraced

The chronicle ends with either the Prince recognizing the Union Council and having it as a neutral location from the lieutenants. Or, the Prince passing judgement on the Union Council and having them leave the city or meet final death

So, I think this book will become canon to my little world. I like the premise of it happening the same year as the book was published (as a little nod)

However, I’m not too sure which way I want the outcome to end up. I kind like the idea of a city that is more orderly—as Columbus is on the brink of war between the Camarilla and Anarchs and Cincinnati is Sabbat controlled. So, I think I might have the Union Council end up taking control of the city after the Camarilla falls apart due to infighting between the Prince and the Lieutenants. I also might add a little spice of the Union Council becoming what they were afraid of (very much “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority.” vibes)

3C Chronicles

Named after the three big C cities of Ohio, most of my games take place in those locations. The games are v5 as a base with some elements from other editions and some homebrew. All games I run are also interconnected with one another—no matter if it is a chronicles or a one shots.

Whilst the ball was starting to drop, the lights of the venue suddenly went out and loud crashes could be heard throughout the bar. When they came back on, the bar was a mess with only a cryptic message left behind. Can the coterie find out who did this and why? Or will these questions haunt their night?

Coterie: Chococat Fan Club

With the Sabbat recently taking an interest in Columbus, the coterie has gotten word that the sect is meeting a sorcerer at Jungle Jim's International Market to acquire an artifact that would shakeup Ohioan kindred society. Wanting to prevent this, the coterie has decided that they will travel to the Sabbat’s stronghold of Cincinnati to try to prevent this exchange. However, can this ragtag team actually achieve this?

For this year’s Festivo dello Estinto, the Cincinnati Sabbat have decided to hold a contest called “Mx. American Cainite” to see who will draw first blood at the nightly blood feast. However, as the night goes by, contestants seem to be dropping out one by one. In the end, will there even be a Mx. American Cainite?
