a little comparison of the old model and the new one so far (new one on the left, sorry, confusing.)
much less "sonic-y". not that sonic-type proportions are a bad thing but i've been leaning away from that style for quite a while now and i'm glad to have a model that fits.
going for more of a late-ps2-ish look i think. much higher poly count (the old one has around 4k tris, new in its current state is sitting at around 9k) and making sure to prioritize good topology over low-poly aesthetics.
we aren't anywhere near done, but i vastly prefer the newer model already. curious to know what you guys think though! feel free to give your input (i like critique)
i only need to finish drawing his textures , rig him and do a couple of face textures for emotions and blinking
and WIP of my chibi Epona model for the same project (I finally managed to do a 3d model of a quadrupedal character) i modeled her without a reference sheet and it feels much easier this way
btw this Epona looks so silly with this angle, but that game will be kinda from top-down angle so this won't be noticeable
I know I don't have a PROPER upload for you guys this week but I do have my WIP for you guys
Crumb finally fucking locks in??? No but fr I've been working on 3d modeling for a good few months atp, a bit spotty but lately I've been really actually sitting down to properly learn to do this right and not shittily, my spring break ends today so I have no clue how long this will take, hopefully it doesn't stay in fucking limbo forever
I'm trying to figure out how I wanna do the eyes cause I wanna do something more stylized, I was thinking those 2d png type eyes but I'm not sure, if anyone has tutorials or something It'd be greatly appreciated
Current sculpt base- they're so shaped (Under the read more cause there's 2 blocks for the tatas and I don't want anyone in public getting jumpscared (NOT NSFW):
They're shaped like a fucking brick I swear, doing a chubby character as my first not only proper animated 3d model but also full body sculpt was likely not a very smart idea on my part ngl, I'm liking the shape of the nose so far tho I was wondering how I'd translate my lazy noses into 3d hehe, I'll probably just texture paint the freckles or something, I wanna do a lot of texture painting, I'm a bit nervous for it tho, I've got the modeling part down pretty damn well atp for a newbie I'd say but idk
I'm gonna stop fucking yapping and get back to work lmao (I'm abt to sculpt the head I'm scared :[ )
