Instead of just treating the symptoms of damaged or diseased parts of the body, regenerative medicine aims to help heal, regenerate and create new fully functioning tissue. Scientists have already shown that they can make stem cells turn into beating heart cells but the big challenge scientists and engineers face, is arranging these cells into a fully functioning 3D organ.
