ESSY'S NAMES FOR VARIOUS UNDERTALE AU CHARACTERS (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
So thought this would be a fun thing to do, to write down and tell you all the nicknames I have for all my takes on different Undertale Au characters, not only the skeletons in those verses but also like Asgore's, Grillbies etc, I will also explain a bit as to why they are nicknamed as such because I can, not all characters has been worked on or given nicknames as of yet tho so not everyone will be there, also I so did this just so I could procrastinate on everything else I need to do but fuck it here goes!
Swap Pap = Stretch, one of the most common nicknames for him and which I ended up sticking with too, at first I refused and just called him Papy but it got a bit hard to do for some reason, think it was that when I read fanfics I got tired of replacing Stretch with Papy in my head because I did that for some frikking reason, so gave up, still call him that on occasion but Stretch is the main nickname I have for him
Swap Sans = Berry, which originated from the Blueberry nickname most ppl call him by, I did at first nickname him Blue but eventually ended preferring to call him Berry, as it sounds like Barry and makes me think of like this muscular pretty tall guy with a beard, which is how I see Berry except with no beard pfft
Swap Asgore = Fluffy, because he is super duper fluffy in how I draw him, like his hair is super curly and fluffy and you could probably end up lost in there with how big and fluffy it is, hence the nickname
Swap Chara = Skorpan, a nickname of a character from a children’s book, who was nicknamed that by his brother who really liked the Swedish bread skorpa. Which is this hard bread which translates into rusk/crust/biscuit, skorpa is also part of the word sårskorpa which is scab but in Swedish.
Swap Frisk = Finley, name means “blond warrior”, I just find the name nice, they are not blonde.
Swap Alphys = Marks, because of the scars she has over her right eye, know that the usual swap Alphys got the scars and stuff on the left side but I went with the right so it would be swapped from UT Undyne, because swapping random things is what I do with my take on them
Swap Undyne = Frecks, because she got allot of freckles all over her body
Swap Grillby = Pot, which is obviously because of him having allot of tea pots
Swap Muffet = Dulce, a name meaning candy/sweet, because she makes sweets and candy. Though Dulce is actually her surname, her real name is something she doesn’t like to be called.
Swap Doggo = Smokie, because he smokes allot and yes I have a take on swap Doggo what about it
Swap Temmie = Bob, because of the Temmie named Bob and because I think it’s funny
Swap Toriel = Braid, because she got a bit of a goatee/beard which is braided
Swap Asriel = Floppy, because floppy ears
Swap Napstablook = Dapperbot, I just never liked the whole Napstaton name or the whole skater boy thing that the usual swap is, so I changed it
Swap Gaster = Poe, after Edgar Allan Poe because he speaks in sonnets/poems etc.
Fell Pap = Edge, most common name and just what fit him the most for me, though in an au I have or rather had with some friends, so did he end up with a second nickname which is LT, which does not stand for lieutenant but for Little Tomato
Fell Sans = Red, obviously which is also one of the most common nicknames for him, he has always been Red to me and always will, though in the au I mentioned above he has ended up with a second nickname as well which is BT, which ofc means Big Tomato
Fell Frisk = Ruffles or just Ruff, as their hair is very ruffled and people have a habit of ruffling it even more
Fell Chara = Hunter, just feel it fits.
Fell Toriel = Vanity, because she is one vain woman and kind of a bitch
Fell Asgore = Gore, mostly just Asgore without the As but also because he is a pretty brutal and gory guy, though that is kind of wrong tho as he is kinda chill, in his own way tho
Fell Undyne = Cackles, because she constantly cackles, especially when she laughs
Fell Alphys = Tatters, her clothes are always slightly tattered
Fell Grillby = Vio, short for violet as he is almost violet in colour
Fell Flowey = Roots or Rooty, because he a plant
Fell Muffet = Ruthie, meant to be a play on ruthless, because that’s what she is.
Fell Gaster = Doc, which is pretty self explained.
SF Pap = Rus, also one of the more common nicknames for him which I have decided to go with too, though I mostly just call him trash, because he is fucking trash, or my take on him is at least
SF Sans = Scratch, me calling him Scratch originated from one of the first sketches I made of him, way before I had figured out how he and is bro would be like, where he screams "BITCH I WILL SCRATCH YOUR EYES OUT!", which is actually still very him come to think of it, and then also that he has scratch like scars over both his eye sockets
SF Chara = Fidget, because they fidget allot
SF Frisk = Lane, meaning like path and roadway, just thought it sounded nice.
SF Asgore = Krum, which is a Swedish word, also Danish I think, for kind of like bend, that something is crooked though it is not used in normal conversations and stuff, but I mostly went with Krum because of a surname that is KrumHorn, which translates to crooked horn basically, and since my take on this guy got very crooked horns I felt it worked well for him
SF Alphys = Claws, cu'z she got them sharp claws
SF Undyne = Stitches, because she's a doctor and stuff, and because she got some herself ye
SF Muffet = Tuffet, based on the nursery rhyme where the name Muffet comes from which is called "Little Miss Muffet", mostly I just call her Mama Muffet tho
SF Grillby = Lord Carnation, Carnation is a flower and his colours is pretty much the same as a pink carnation flower, and also because it just sounds really cool
SF Fuku = Amaranth, which is also a flower which is pinkish, she ended up with that nickname as at first I was planning on her dad having it but went with Carnation instead, but I really liked the name so just gave it to her instead
SF Temmie = Bubba, because it sounds cute, and because they love bubblegum
SF Toriel = Regal, because she is pretty regal
SF Asriel = Prince, because he is one, and also one spoiled little shit
SF Napstablook = NapstaTron, or just NTron, because why not pft
SF Gaster = Cortex, a part of the brain is named such and it just sounds cool.
SF KH Papyrus = Cash, one of the most common nicknames for him and it’s the one I am going with, since it just fits so well pftt
SF KH Sans = Mauve, it’s the color of purple of his magic and clothes etc, originally called Grape but I did not like it so went and changed it
SF KH Undyne = Rexia, a like feminine version of Rex which means king/ruler.
SF KH Alphys = Scars, because she got them.
SF Grillby = Borax, which is the name of the colour of apple green fire.
SF KH Muffet = Neon, because neon lights.
SF KH Gaster = Curtis, I just like the name.
Seaswap Papyrus = Boney, which is sorta pronounced as Bonnie, based on the famous lady pirate named Bonnie, and because he be one bony boy
Seaswap Sans = Compass though mostly just Pass for short, because he is the groups moral compass and he is really good with directions, and steers the ship
Seaswap Chara = Charon, after the ferryman of Hades in Greek mythology, went with this one as it sounded allot like Chara though mostly it was just supposed to be a temporary nickname until I found another one but the name stuck
Seaswap Toriel = Fjord, the name of a long narrow and deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs
Seaswap Asgore = Attewater, old English name meaning “at the water” or “at the waters edge”, he has also been lovingly nicknamed weed daddy
Seaswap Undyne = Sirenia, copied from wiki: an order of fully aquatic, herbivorous mammals that inhabit rivers, estuaries, coastal marine waters, swamps and marine wetlands, mostly just went with it because it sounded pretty and had siren in it
Seaswap Alphys = Anemone, because sea anemones
Seaswap Mettaton = Medu, short for “medusa” which is used as a term for jellyfish
Seaswap Napstablook = Nobu, a Japanese name meaning either “trust” or “prolonged stretch”, might be wrong, not the reason why I choose this nickname tho, only decided on it because it sounded similar to Medu and that they sound well together
Seaswap Asriel = Lir, from a myth named “Children of Lir”, as it sounded cute
Seaswap Frisk = Unn, named after one of the Norse sea goddess Rán’s daughters which means “wave”
Seaswap Gaster = Fiddler, based on “Fiddler’s Green”, supposedly a legendary afterlife for sailors who have spent 50 years at sea
Seaswap Gerson = Skal, Swedish word for shell
Seaswap Grillby = Marsili, after a underwater volcano by the same name
Seaswap Flowey = Actin, after a water anemone species by the name of Actinia
MessedUpTale Papyrus = Pop, because he’s a dad and Pop is slang for it, but also because originally he was called Poppy due for originally being my own take on störyshift Pap but he is now my own boy, his role is that of Toriel’s
MessedUpTale Sans = Tycoon, because he is king and tycoon is a kind of king, like technically it doesn’t fully fit as a tycoon is more of a successful business person, but the name have stuck and it’s what I am going with, his role is that of Asgore
MessedUpTale Chara = Chael, name meaning “who is like god?”, which is like an ironic name for them but mostly went with it because of how it’s spelled, their role is that of Frisk
MessedUpTale Frisk = Fritz, meaning like “peaceful ruler” and is like a short version of Frederik, but that is not why I choose this name it’s mostly because of how it’s spelled and it sounds cute, their role is that of Chara
MessedUpTale Gaster/River person = Gus/River, originally was planning to go with like Dings but then I thought of Gus and decided to go with it, and then later he ends up being called River instead because plot, his role is that of Asriel/Flowey but also a bit of actual Riverperson
MessedUpTale Undyne = Fisher, cu’z she’s a fish, her role is that of Sans
MessedUpTale Alphys = Mew Mew Kissy Cutie Alphy, because I could and since she’s the star of the underground and plot reasons, her role is that of Mettaton
MessedUpTale Mettaton = Mettabyte, a mix of his original name and megabyte because I can, his role is that of Papyrus
MessedUpTale Napstablook = Blook, because they don’t really appear so no need to give them a proper nickname, their role is that of Gaster
MessedUpTale Toriel = Celty, meaning creative in nature in Celtic, but mostly named her that because it almost sounds like cell, her role is that of Alphys
MessedUpTale Asgore = Trident, because he got one pft, his role is that of Undyne
MessedUpTale Asriel = Boots, I just find it cute, his role is that of Monster Kid
MessedUpTale Monster Kid = Laban, a reference to a old swedish kid show/book named Spöket Laban, about a super kind ghost kid by the name of Laban, named such because plot, their role is that of Napstablook
MessedUpTale Grillby = Brand, its a word for fire like “it’s a brand” etc in Swedish and some other countries, his role is that of Burgerpants
MessedUpTale Burgerpants = Whopper, because hamburgers, his role is that of Grillby
MessedUpTale Bravery = Olivia, just really like the name it’s cute and the way she looks she just scream to be a Olivia, so Olivia it is
MessedUpTale Perseverance = Jian, meaning “build/establish”, he’s chinese/asian, though technically not since irl world countries don’t exist in this au technically since I don’t go with that whole UT etc in our world etc
MessedUpTale Integrity = Veronika, just felt fitting
MessedUpTale Patience = Mitra, Indian name meaning “god of the sun”, they are indian as in India, though at the same time not as mentioned up above at Jian.
MessedUpTale Justice = Chikere, west African name meaning “God created” in Igbo, just really like the name so went with it, they are dark skinned/african btw
MessedUpTale Kindness = Elijah, had planned to name him something else but couldn’t stop thinking of this name so went with it
G snas = Gans, just Sans and Gaster mixed together because I am original
G Papyrus = Fraktur, a grammar thingie that looks fancy, also Swedish word for fracture as in broken bones etc
Seafell Papyrus = Crow, because kaw kaw antivan crows
Seafell Sans = Memo, as in memories because he lost most of them, and it sounds like Nemo, and also memo as in a memo list pft
Seafell Undyne = Fin, pretty self-explained because she is a fish
Seaswapfell Sans = Cricket, because I have been wanting to have a character nicknamed/named Cricket for ages and I saw my chance with this boy and I went for it pft
Seaswapfell Papyrus = Flotsam, because he is trash is all, originally nicknamed Jax but a friend suggested Flotsam instead so changed it
UL Papyrus = Velvet, because I wanted to name him after fabrics for some reason, first was considering Silk but then my mind just went no Velvet, and so Velvet it is pft
UL Sans = Bin, because he is a trash bin
UL Frisk = Corn, because corn pft.
UL Toriel = Passion, because she be passionate
UL Asgore = Big, he shouldn’t have been allowed to name himself
UL Undyne = Dion, I just wanted her to be named something starting with D and this the one that stuck
EaseSwap, Easefell and Easeswapfell, EaseswapfellKH (Same world):
EaseSwap Papyrus = Mello, was supposed to be like a nickname based from caramel, because this boy is sweet af, but now it’s more because of the fact here in Sweden our famous show Melodifestivalen, is often called mello, and that show is currently going atm that I write this so yeah pft
EaseSwap Sans = Dexter though just Dex for short, it just fit him
Easeswap Muffet = Sekho, from the African language Sesotho, simply meaning spider, because she is one
Easeswap Alphys = none atm
Easefell Papyrus = Pepper, because it was the name I instantly thought of when I finished sketching him, it just fits so well it’s crazy
Easefell Sans = Thyme, because he and his brother got a spice theme going, accidently pft
Easefell Undyne = Piranha, tho just Pira for short, because teeth
Easefell Grillby = none atm
Easeswapfell Papyrus = Pippin, just Pip for short, Pip was the first thing i thought of when I came up with them, and was then trying to come up with something else and one of the other names I had in mind was Merry, which made me think of Merry and Pippin lord of the rings, and so the name stuck
Easeswapfell Sans = Flip, not sure where I got this name from was thinking of something like short and Flip happened, i think pft
EaseswapfellKH Papyrus = Calypso, named after a nymph from greek mythology, the name meaning something like “to cover” and “to conceal”.
FSG Papyrus = Mocha, which is a type of coffee, since FSG Pap is usually called Coffee and wanted to name him something related to it, and Mocha sounded really cute so Mocha it is.
FSG Sans = Vintage, or just Vin for short, though Mocha calls him Vinny and he is the only one allowed to do so. Called Vintage because he is a grandma, and because FSG Snas is usually called Wine, so vintage wine, because I am funny.

Aquator, water elemental oc in UT, my idea of Grillby’s husband. His name is a mix of the word Aqua and equator:

Underswap Aquator = Tor, tho think it was something different
Seaswap Aquator = Vatten, simply meaning water in Swedish
