3 THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMER IN PARIS
Summer is the time of the year that reminds me why I love Paris: a picnic on the "pont des arts", a drink at a "terrasse", a walk by the Seine. Let's see what Paris has to offer this year, here are 3 of my favourite things to do this summer in the city of lights:
* WATCH A MOVIE AT THE GRAND PALAIS
The Grand Palais, better known for its exhibitions and the Chanel fashion shows, surprises us this year with the "Cinema Paradise". As you come in you'll find that the museum doesn't host masterpieces but a Diner, a drive in cinema and a roller track. Everything makes you feel like you're back in the 50's. Every night playing different movies: Grease, Jaws, Saturday Night Fever...all of the classics ;)
You'll start with a burger at a diner, followed by a little rolling to end watching Grease. A fun and retro way to start the summer!
(21 Avenue Franklin Roosevelt 75008 Paris)
* VERSAILLE'S GARDENS & MARIE ANTOINETTE'S TRIANON
Only 30 min away from Paris, Versailles is a "must do" when you're in Paris. Although it is a classic I still find it charming to visit the gardens, the fountains and specially Marie Antoinette's little "trianon". A charming little country house next to the castle, initially a gift from Louis XVI to Marie Antoinette. I can see why she loved the place so much, once I'm there i completely forget about the luxurious castle and i'm instantly charmed by this heaven on hearth. A cottage, a pond, a vegetable garden, everything feels so far away from the decadence and makes you see another side of Versailles. A nice little break from the city
(Directions: take the RER C in Saint Michel towards Versailles - if you're planning to do the castle & the gardens i recommend to spend the whole day in Versailles).
* ON THE WATER
Another fun and unexpensive way to spend your summer afternoons in Paris: taking the boat. For 2€ you can take the "navette" a little boat that goes down the Seine. It is less touristy than the "bateau mouche" and makes you see another side of Paris, going from the Villette Garden to the suburbs.
(Go to Stalingrad station and ask for the "Navettes" - 2 options: either one way or roundtrip tickets)
