Raphaelle sighed, closing her medical journal to look up at Gabrielle: “Penny for your thoughts?”
She blinked two times and looked down to the head in her lap: “... huh?”
A little miffed that the head pets stopped, Raphaelle still asked: “You do act a little bit strangely around me, love. Something’s on your mind, and you’re not telling me what it is”
“… aww, are you worried about me?” Raphaelle’s hair got ruffled, but Gabe blushed, just slightly.
“I’m always worried about you, but right now I’m worried you’re not telling me things for no reason and it makes me a little sad,” she pouted. As well as she see could.
As usual, Gabe looked taken aback, gnawed her lower lip and a little distressed, then she frowned: “This is not something you get with cuteness. Just leave it be,” she looked at Raph for a second before looking away. “Please?”
“Ah. It’s a sexual thought”
“Er~”
“Come on, Gabby. Just tell me. I’d feel much better if you didn’t squirm around me anymore,” she thought for a moment, then turned to kiss her belly and squeezed one breast: “… except for intended reasons,” and nuzzled her nose into her belly.
“Ngh,” she blushed a little more, “Look, I just…”
“Yeees?”
“… it really is silly to not just tell you. I… sometimes think about how… maybe… it would be fun to… eh… involve you both? In the bedroom? Njall and you?” She looked away.
“Mh,” Raphaelle frowned.
There was more lip-biting: “It’s just a thought. I know you aren’t into-“
“How that? Do I pin you to the bed and kiss and caress and snuggle you? And Njall fucks you?”
Gabe looked down a little scandalised.
“Fucks me?”
She turned even redder and sputtered slightly: “Raph, you can’t just-“
“Love, I’m not an innocent girl. I’m a doctor, remember? It’s not that terrible. Want me to ride him and you being eaten out by him? Let me eat you out and watch him fuck me? Or do you simply want to watch?”
Gabe was beet red at this time. And Raphaelle decided to sit up and kiss her, smooshing her cheeks.
“Gabby, you are far too cute”
“Shutup, you’re not into sex!”
“But I’m into you. Very much. And you’re even cuter when you are close to orgasm,” Raph kissed her again. And dragged her down into a laughing snuggle.
When the newest fallen angel turned out to be a puddle of goo… I was not too sure what to make of it.
Laziness is a sin easiest inspired in newly fallen beings, but… this one seemed… determined to be not lazy.
It was a challenge.
Exactly that was what I set out not to have when I started working in laziness.
After a few weeks of watching the puddle, I realised it was mostly hungry. And would eat almost anything. Human food. Vegetables. Sweet things. Meat. Living beings – mostly insects – that made it down here… and it took blood when it found some.
So, it would most likely end up in Gluttony if I didn’t do anything about it.
… it also was somewhat… well… helpless.
And no one should be completely alone, after falling.
It didn’t happen that often anymore. Nowadays.
Most of the time, the people knew each other or fell in hell. So, they had someone to catch them or at least give a quick… grand tour.
But this one? Didn’t seem to have someone to look out for them. Whoever they could have been… two weeks is a long time to leave an ex-angel alone.
So, I approached the little thing.
It… bit me. Big surprise.
Hardening my hand, I bapped it.
It hissed and attached itself to my hand, teeth stuck in basically unbreakable skin.
At this moment, I sighed. And lifted my hand.
It was still firmly attached and snarled at me.
How? That is a very good question. The attachment and the snarling.
But hey. I could lift the puddle and put it in the glass that I brought for that express purpose.
It… wasn’t very smart. Like. At all. It was a hissing puddle of goo with a life expectancy of a gnat.
I shook off and closed the glass.
Well. I would see that it lived a little longer than a gnat.
The snarling was kind of cute. Also spoke a little of the tone of voice it might get in the end.
Likely male-identifying.
… another one.
Ah well. Maybe Goopy would grow handsome. Or into a cute hell-beast. Who knew. It certainly lost a lot of its higher brain functions. I hoped it would be able to regain them.
“Hey, lil’ Goopy. Stay so determined and it’ll be fine, got me?”
I decided to take the angry screeching – and zipping around in the glass – as an enthusiastic ‘yes’
I clawed tightly onto my mattress, wrapping myself into the blankets a little tighter.
No one had said the tower was instable!
The tower was shaking.
With... with impact?!
It felt like something broke and-
Something ROARED.
I saw an eye, glimpsing through the window. A giant eye.
I stared at it, my own eyes wide.
It was a slitted pupil, adjusting to me.
Blue and huge and...
Dragons didn't do that! They did not do things like that!
Not anymore!
And...
I was shaking. While the giant eye narrowed, a low grumbling laugh shaking the bloody tower.
Things... broke.
They broke and I hid under the covers, everything crashed and broke and the high winds suddenly blew right over me, pulling on the blankets, it was a rush of sound and motion and everything and then it was... silent.
And warm.
And... and weird-smelling.
And I was still in my bed.
When I opened my eyes, everything was dark.
Only the... the noises were there.
Strange noises.
Snapping and cracking and... and like something moves.
And it was warm.
And... and... I was still in my bed!
I burrowed myself deeper inside.
Did... did this... actually...
What in the world was happening?!
Except... except my bed... moving... under me.
Wavy.
I jumped when there was a... a gulping motion?!
I froze some more.
Did... did the dragon... did it... did it.. eat... m-
I stared. I stared in front of me. My topmost blanket flew off.
There was a rush of air going past me. And I saw... I saw... TEETH.
Air going through... teeth. Giant, sharp, terrifying teeth.
Light went through them.
They made a crushing sound when they fitted together again.
I was shaking.
When it suddenly smelled of sulfur, I... lost my nerve.
I have... no idea what happened in the next... time.
I don't recall getting out. I don't recall pain or anything...
I just... opened my eyes at one point and... was still in my bed.
In my... weirdly burnt-smelling, somewhat moist and... broken bed.
I... had planned to break my bed in more... pleasant ways.
And now I was... I was in... in a tower.
There are plants around.
All around.
I'm in my broken bed, surrounded by a ruinous cavern and...
On the one hand, woo look at all those eights! :D But on the other today was another slow writing day :/ hopefully will find some time to catch up later in the week
The article Countering a “Culture of Violence”. Can It Be Done?, by Viktoria Hertling, discusses her attempt to create students who are practically striving for peace and conscious of peace and conflict issues in the world today. Hertling teaches at the University of Nevada. Part of her course focuses on the Agenda for Peace and Justice in the 21st Century, which was produced after a United Nations conference in the Netherlands. The Agenda is a “fifty-point plan for global action to be undertaken by governments, human rights groups, and individuals within civil society” (p.79). The depth and complexity of the Agenda means that it provides practical plans for both large scale and individual efforts. The ultimate goal of this plan is to create a “Culture of Peace” (p.80).
Inspired by the Agenda, Hertling assigned her students the task of making ‘peace projects’. These projects can be in any medium but all express “reasoned efforts of building consciousness as a prerequisite for future involvement in peace and justice issues” (p. 84). The projects ranged from “original poems, drawings, paintings, photographs, video documentaries, and collages” (p.84).
The reason I found this article so impacting and inspiring is that Hertling placed an importance on the individual. She passed her passion for peace onto her students by letting them explore issues that resounded with them through a medium of their own choosing. Hertling notes that the outcome of this and involvement in the course was students who were more involved in issues in the world today. She says that her students gained the ability to look at events happening in the world as “issues of immediate concern” and no longer “distant events outside their direct realm of reference” (p. 85).
I think this article is important because it demonstrates how individuals can give important contributions to issues that may seem too big to deal with. I also think the article shows the importance and responsibility of learning institutions such as schools and universities in enabling and creating students that are critical thinkers of global issues and ready to “confront and counter violence” whether it be in their own community or on larger scales. Hertling says that the students leave her class as “Agenda citizen advocates” (p.87). The article ends with a quote by anthropologist Margaret Mead. It says, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has” (p.87).
