The Alpha Kids need to get into their session fast, or their planet's going to disintegrate before they have the chance to. I'm aware that, from their perspective, the Red Miles might not arrive for centuries or more - but they're still on some sort of clock, and it's better not to tempt fate. From where I'm sitting, we're running out of time.

By the framing of the scene, it would appear that these two are evenly matched - which would make sense, given they're both drawing power from the same artifact.
Perhaps Serenity can tip the scales, somehow. She deserves it.
