my friend just set me off so im going to rant about zeke and lyra again and how their relationship is not romantic in the slightest. i said this before and i will say it again zeke and lyra are very obviously siblings and have a codependent SIBLING relationship that is the point of their relationship. zeke perceives their relationship as 'romantic' because he has no idea how to grapple with the concept of being so close to a woman, sharing a bed, showering with her, and just like, having a conversation with her. its not romantic but his mindset based in his toxic masculinity makes him unwilling to confront the fact that he is not dating lyra, this girl who understands him wholeheartedly in his eyes, the girl who has his back, the girl who is, for all intents and purposes, his better half. it makes me so irritated to see people take what zeke says about them dating at face value, because it simply is not true and it will never be true. lyra goes along with zeke, she is shown to be a chronic enabler of his behavior slash encourages him to spiral with her because she requires that companionship from him, believing theyre both the kinds of people that society threw to the wayside. zeke similarly enables lyra, its a core component of their codependent relationship and so Of Course lyra wont rebuke what zeke says about them dating of course zeke is going to be confused when lyra walks around kissing people other than him that one time for the dare. he is genuinely incapable of reasoning that their relationship is NOT romantic. its likely the only semblance of female companionship that hes ever had. i was going to say outside of maternal affection but i honestly doubt his mother is affectionate towards him in an impactful way considering what we know of his past. it just. gets me so fucking heated every single time i see someone say "lyzeke lyzeke omg lyzeke canon they kiss" did we play the same game? did we consume the same media?
