As the countdown of days leading up to Christmas began to fell away with ease, Nikolas knew that the trip to Hogsmeade would be even more crowded than usual. He expected students who didn’t routinely make the trip would now be streaming out of the castle in an effort to collect presents for family and friends before the break.

Nik’s steps through the corridors are reserved and mindful. He runs over his list of needs over in his head and smiles at the thought of spending time with one of his favorite people. But a loud fourth year interrupts his thoughts and almost sends Nik flying into the stone wall. Instead he mutters under his breath and shoves the smaller boy out of his way, already tired of the smaller bundle of energy that never seems to look where he’s going as he bounds down the hallways seemingly unfazed. Nik stalls in his steps and shakes his head in wonder before he turns down another corridor that leads out to the overly crowded courtyard.

The air is chilly spinning around a torrent of snowflakes that causes him to snuggle down into his huge scarf and jacket. It’s moments like this that causes him to yearn for the warmer weather Mykonos offers and while he hates the freezing weather and drafty castle, Nik admits he has a rather large soft spot for snow. Leaning against a nearby pillar, he watches as stubborn flurries fall from the sky and paints the courtyard in a sheet of shocking pure white. A soft smile strains at the corners of his lips and he chuckles to himself and crosses his arms over his chest. It’s there that he loses himself in his thoughts and forgets that he’s waiting for one of his closest friends.
