My Problem With: High Guardian Spice Backlash
So Crunchy Roll is doing a NetFlix and funding an original series, and the babies of the Internet are crying their eyes out. Well they're not babies, they're grown adults, and mostly grown adult men. They go by many names, but if you use any of them they dodge it by using some other label or call you an idiot for using 'buzzword' so let's skip addressing them and address what they all seem to be bitching about.
First, how Announcement trailer didn't show anything about the show. It's the First Announcement Trailer and people are complaining there's not enough detail. Like what do you want? The whole plot. Just wait. Fuck. I mean they didn't tell us nothing. They told us it's about 4 girls going a school for Guardian. So yeah, the most generic set up literally ever, but hey that's something. They also said they're a majority of women creators, which I think will bring a deferent feel from other shows which I definitely look forever to.
Next, the fact they disabled comments.
Okay listen, if you're surprised that they disabled comments then you're either an idiot or just new to the Internet bullshit storm. I'm going to assume you're the latter and explain why the former are in fact the former. Whenever anyone in a select group of people do anything a mass of people from another select group of people come from and metaphorically shits all over the place. Now the labels get moved around so it get blurry what everyone goes by, but I'm going to be using the terms "Feminist" and "4chantards" to label them.
This is because whenever people who identify as a feminist makes a product people that use a web site called 4chan like to be involved in the mass shitting, and relationship between the Feminist creators of High Guardian Spice and the 4chantards posting 15mins responds to a 90sec announcement trailer is at the very least very similar. They mercilessly come in using an array of insults and buzzwords to try and discredit the creators of a show that doesn't exist yet, and yet people are claiming that disable comment was a bad move for them. Claiming that by disabling the comments they block off the main resource people who would excited for the show to connect to one another and that's very stupid claim to make.
Because if you honestly think that massive shit pile left by the thousands of 4chantards filled with death and rape and all other forms of violence threats would be out shined by the maybe hundred people who would post an expression of excitement on a goddamn 90sec trailers then you are an idiot, or very new to the Internet. Or you're the third, and honestly far more likely, possibility; one of the 4chantards I'm talking about arguing in bad faith wishing you could turn the comment section of 90sec announcement trailer into a massive cesspool. Because that's the only thing would have happened, and we all know it.
Another thing is that It's not even 'made by crunchy roll', they're just funding it. Ellation Studios is making it. (Just like how LWA is made Studios Trigger, not NetFlix. Also, I'm sure they're using their own profits to fund this. They're not taking money out of anime's pocket. Which is another thing people seem to be worried about.
Now I don't want everyone to misunderstand me. I'm not saying shut up forever, I'm just saying shut up for now, because we still don't anything past: Magic girl, Magic school, and lot of women are involved. When it come out I'll definitely be out here ready praise it if good and rise it apart if crap, but I'm not going to sit here make wild claim like 'This will destroy anime' which is ready fucking stupid concerning most anime is from an entirely different country that wouldn't effected by one series made in the states.
Personally though, I think it's going to fail, but I think it's going to be because of pussyfooting serious issues because the west is scared shitless of having anything not apart of the norm on their show. Like instead of just having one, or more, of the main characters be lesbians they're make them 'Kinda lesbians, but not really because that's scary, but also not straight, because we're being progressive, just not too progressive because that's scary' Like they do in Adventure Time and LoK(which was bullshit, need to make a post on that.)
But in all honestly, I really, honestly hope High Guardian Spice comes out good, and not only good, but serious and deep. Serious and deep enough that I made an argument that it's actually anime, because I just hate the idea that anime can only be made by one country and a country that I don't even know the language of nor care about while the great nation I born in mostly see drawn pictures as childish and/or immature. So the possibly of a western animation breaking the mold and possibly changing and redefining the western outlook on animation is something that excites me greatly, and should excite you too, but if you're just another 4chantard then you don't care about possibility of positive change. No all you care is that there's something you don't like and simply not watching it it's an option. It needs to just not exist at all.
Well I say fuck that. Let the Feminist make shit. If it's good I'm view it, and if I don't like it I just drop it.
