Having people to introduce the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh to, whom were spared from growing up with the 4kidz release, is truly a gift. My qpp and I are taking a detour through Capsule Monsters before we start the final arc of Duel Monsters and, well... she understands now.

Actual things I remember from the real Dinosaur King:

The opening song was basically just: Camera pan over CGI dinosaurs, METEOR, Anime trio dancing with anime chibi dinosaurs while the CGI adult versions of those dinos rage in the background. All that with the repeated lyrics "Dinosaur King is what you want to be, yeah (make your move go on and make your move) / Dinosaur King is your destiny, yeah (make your move go on and make your move)"

The villains were Team Rocket working for Dr. Wily. They were from the future. The future with Dinosaur Arena Pit Fights. They came to the past to...make money? Make the dinosaur pit fights happen earlier? Be famous? I can't remember.

Paleontology is a valid career field. Like, valid enough to get you a nice house in Japan California (thanks 4Kidz), as well as your own private lab.

The voice actors were literally just everyone from Pokémon. Just replace Pikachu with Triceratops and they could have literally been the same scripts.

The dinosaurs digivolve. They go from chibi anime baby versions to Old CGI Adults. They get Digimon attacks too when they go CGI.

If you lose a dinosaur fight, you lose your dinosaur. Unless it loves you a lot? The angsty blonde boy lost his purple T-Rex to Team Rocket, but he didn't because friendship? I know the same thing happened when the Team Rocket almost lost their Pachycephalosaurus (the hard headed one), but it stayed with the bad guys cause it was basically Wobbuffet.

Finally, I remember I dropped the show after the first season(?), but then I decided to see what the last episode was like, and boy howdy, that fake Tumblr post about space pirates and nonsense wasn't too far off.

Oh yeah, I just remembered that this was shown on the CW 4Kidz Saturday morning block. So you could watch Supernatural, go to bed, wake up and watch Dinosaur King without changing the channel.

The fact that I didn't know Brock's mom was dead ☠️ No wonder he simps over every women he sees so damn hard, he's got mommy issues 😭😭😭 But yeah, 4Kidz fucked up the script so hard for so many of their shows, it ain't funny. But at least we got bangers like the Poke Rap and Jelly Filled Donuts
