a drawing i have already made
thinking heavily about the past, what impact people are leaving behind with them online.
this feeling mainly came about after watching a video on 2b2t, how memories of others are forever placed on that server, old friendships, old structures people spent time making and creating, it makes me wonder how they are today, if they still talk with the people who created those things. especially reading old signs
it reminded me how much i love this small niche roblox games created by 4slug surrounding weirdcore concepts, but most of them have notes you can leave around the world that stay there forever. i have notes on there about my past partner, notes after we broke up, and notes i probably forgot i left. walking around you can find areas of full diaries, full conversations from players over months and years cemented into the game forever, for everyone to see if they look for it
i still think a lot about my old friends from chatroll or skype, old games i used to play when i was younger, where those people are today who i don't talk to anymore, i wonder a lot about the unknown. i miss talking to people who i used to. i wonder if i left that impression on them too and if they miss me too. i dont know how to reach out to most of these people anymore but i wish i could. i sometimes look back on what i memorialized through blog posts, old social medias, etc from myself and my old friends. i wish more of it was memorialized like most of the internet was
continuing my thoughts onwards, looking at roblox and how there are endless games created from most likely a decade ago, zero players, just memories of what was. i miss certain online communities and games that were just cancelled or killed when flash was not supported anymore. i wonder where the developers are, how they are doing now, why they stopped creating. same goes with random accounts on social media, why do some people stop posting? do they forget? why do some people stop creating videos? did they lose the passion? run out of time? die? there is so much out there and it makes me sad i will never be able to see everything people are creating
i feel like with social media now, most people will live on through what they leave behind, looking back on old forum posts and other forms of remembrance before the internet, most people will live on for a long time, people eventually will be able to look at their great grandparents social medias after they die, even if they never got to meet them, the way we all are interconnected now is beyond what humans should have been able to recognize. the memories of people i never even met makes me sad and confused, why am i feeling so deeply about people i never have met? why is everything so much more meaningful after people are gone? weather literally, or if they just stop posting. i dont know if i will ever feel different, even seeing the old comments on youtube or reddit, sometimes ill see people respond to their comments from years ago with updates or responding to a new question their old comment created
it is beautiful but painful that we live in the present, and reminisce on the past, knowing that eventually i will be reminiscing on this moment of my life, knowing that eventually i will be missing worse than this
does the feeling ever stop?
