Another year of Fourth Friday has come and gone in Westerville. With the changes that came due to COVID, there were only four Fourth Fridays this year, and we only went to one - the July Fourth Friday, held on July 23 in Uptown Westerville, before cases went up with the Delta Variant (which caused the September Fourth Friday to be cancelled).

DJBC Tumblr Fall Flashback - 4th Friday in Uptown Westerville (May 2018)

Fourth Friday in Uptown Westerville was canceled this year, due to the Coronavirus. Here are highlights from the May 2018 Fourth Friday, which is a perfect pairing with Field of Heroes, just around the corner during the May Fourth Fridays.  And if Homecoming Weekend at Otterbein falls on the Fourth Friday in September, you got another perfect pairing too.

Fourth Friday - Hands Across Westerville (9/27/19)

Last Friday during the Season Finale of Fourth Friday in Uptown Westerville, hundreds of people lined up to form a human chain, similar to Hands Across America.  Here are a few pictures of Hands Across Westerville, which happened around dusk in the middle of State Street.

Highlights from Fourth Friday - The 20th Anniversary

July and August in Uptown Westerville celebrated 20 years of Fourth Friday, which began in July and August of 1999 to celebrate the local shops in Uptown Westerville (remember Westerville was DRY back then).  The event was started by the Westerville Visitors and Convention Bureau, which was led for years by the late Jeff Hartnell.  Fast forward 20 years, Uptown Westerville has restaurants and bars to compliment the small local shops along State Street between Home and Park Streets. 

There was live music, live dancing (and a live workout), plus opportunities to look at local art (a new Gallery opened on West Main Street, next to the Visitor and Convention Bureau), and go to one of the many dining establishments that Uptown Westerville has to offer.  August’s theme was “The Dog Days of Summer”, and a lot of people brought their four-legged companions to celebrate Fourth Friday in August.  September 27 is the last official Fourth Friday of the Season, and the theme will be “Farm In The City”.
