Gracias A La Vida, the exit song for Louis' Santiago 2 concert - and Harry parralels
It's about thanking life for bringing you both highs and lows. There's an element of romantic declarations, thanking the universe for every gift it brings that allows you to appreciate and worship "the man I love" - his clear eyes, his soul's journey, his house, the sounds of him, seeing him in a crowd...
The song was written by Chilean activist and folk singer Violeta Parra in 1967. Kacey Musgraves covered it as the closing song on her 2021 album star-crossed. It's also been covered by many others.
Gracias a la Vida had a resurgence during the pandemic - here's an article talking about why - "a year of forced reflection...look at how far we've come and recognize we're not in the eye of the storm...return to simple things...an ode to life’s highs and lows."
Sounds like Harry in HS3 album promo, like the Zane Lowe interview that aired the same day
It was also part of the score for the recent movie Vortex
Lyrics - English translation:
Thanks to life that had given me so much/gave me two stars that when I open them perfectly tell the black from the white/and the high sky's starry backdrop/and amidst the crowd, the man that I love/thanks to life that had given me so much/gave me the ear that in all its breadth registers night and day, crickets and canaries, hammers, turbines, barks, showers, and the tender voice of my beloved/Gave me the sound and the alphabet, the words I think and declare with him - mother, friend, brother, and shining light, the path of the soul of the one I'm loving/it gave me the march of my tired feed, with which I walk cities and puddles, beaches and deserts, mountains and plains, and your house, your street, your patio/gave me the heart that shakes your frame/when I look at the fruit of the human brain, when I look at the good so far from the bad, when I see the depths of your clear eyes/thanks to life that had given me so much, made me laugh, made me cry/ so I distinguish bliss from brokenness - the two materials that make up my song and your song, which is the same song, and the song of everyone that is my song too/thanks to life

“Tour as a general has been bigger and better than I imagined or speculated. This venue does mean a lot to me. I’ve had a lot of special moments here. So, this is almost the epitome of the idea of the tour. And in general me career, you know, going really well at the moment. Better than maybe I imagined it, it would have done a couple of years ago. I know when I walk out tonight, that it’s not just, and it’s not, ironically, it’s not just the size. It is, there’s a feeling here and I’ll feel like a sense of accomplishment when I walk out tonight. I’ve done really special things here you know over the course of me career. So to be here again, but completely on me own for a sold out tour show. Yeah, it feels [?]”
