“Han Areum, are you really wearing that?”
Areum stepped out of the restroom straightening out her shirt. The bright smile on her face showed her mischievous plan.
“Of course I am.” Areum answered, “If the man my parents chose for me is good as they say, he wouldn’t mind what I wear would he?”
With a reassuring pat on her best friend, So Hyemi’s shoulder, Areum cheerfully skipped her way to the address her parents gave.
Arriving, their eyes widened in amusement seeing a big mansion through the gates. The driveway packed full of cars.
“Are they having a party?” Areum walked in with confusion on her face.
Hyemi grabbed Areum’s arm, following yet unable to stop her curious eyes from wandering. They came to the entrance of the mansion where they met with a line of women.
“Excuse me, what’s the line for?” Hyemi questioned the girl in front.
The girl gave them one glance and scoffed.
“We’re here to be picked by the one and only perfectly handsome Kim Minseokie.” The girl explained giving Areum a look of disgust, “You’re not his type, just leave.”
“Did she say Kim Minseok?” Areum turned to Hyemi, “do you think it’s him?”
Hyemi shrugged.
Just then a girl ran out crying. All the girls took this chance to get a peek of him. So did Areum. Minseok happened to turn his gaze to the crack of the door. For a second Areum could’ve sworn their eyes met. She felt sudden chill and goosebumps on her arms. It was him no doubt, but he was way hotter.
“Hyemi, my future husband is Kim f-ing Minseok!” Areum grabbed Hyemi’s arm, “Escape!”
As their foot landed on the last step, their faces ran straight into something firm. Rubbing their heads groaning, they looked up to find a handsome man smiling at them.
“Sorry, but Minseokie wants to see you.” The man informed, pulling Areum to where Minseok waited.
Hyemi ran after them trying to stop the man but failed. After closing the door, he turned to calm Hyemi down. Areum was alone in the room with Minseok, looking at the ground hoping he wouldn’t remember her.
“Look at me.” Minseok demanded, “Don’t be scared.”
Areum jumped at his powerful voice. When she refused, Minseok went over, lifting her chin up. Their eyes met for the second time and he smiled. Did he remember?
“You’re hired.” Minseok announced confusing her.
“Hired?” Areum questioned.
“To be my girlfriend so I wouldn’t have to marry whoever my parents chose.” Minseok explained, “Didn’t you get the memo?”
Hearing that this was all to not have to marry her, Areum got mad. And it seemed he can’t recognize her. Luck was on her side.
“I did.” Areum bit back the urge to curse at him.
If he didn’t want to marry her, he didn’t have to announce it to the whole world and humiliate her. But if he wanted to play like this, she’ll play.
“I’ll take the job.”
