Just saw Lucina going 'Our bonds give me strength!' and my first thought was that she wild probably get along really well with Yusei (has dealt with time travellers, bonds are what makes him glow super saiyan gold), and also Sora ("My friends are my power!" much?). Has anyone done anything for this before me? Please say they have.
@kiryuukyousuke here’s your Kiryu! I was on the fence as to which one it’d be, and it came down to DS or Crashtown. We have a happy DS because not!crazy DS is my weakness.
Yugioh 5Ds is like, that One Fandom where every time I go back and look at my old stuff, or even go into the pixiv tag or whatever, I want to delve back in and continue my old fics.
The main reason I usually don’t is because while I was in the fandom and creating content, I felt like it was just me and a handful of others, and I was never sure if anyone actually liked my ideas (mainly the family headcanons, and my rare ship/s).
Though, that said, now that I’ve moved on and I’m older, I’d like to think that if I did write things to continue stories, I’d do it just for myself, and just for the sake of ‘when I go back to this in another two years’ time, I’ll be able to read more than just the beginning’.
Actually writing is curtailed for now because I have so damn many AA fics - specifically, I need to finish Possession. So I can write more Cry Havoc, Gods!AU, and so on.
aw man I go into the Kiryu tag on pixiv again and I start remembering my love for the character and 5Ds in general. it happens every time.
like, especially concerning my main AU, which is one where the moral alignments of the Signer dragons and the Earthbound Gods are flipped, but everyone’s personalities and belief that they’re doing the right thing stays the same
it was awesome
but it was also a tiny fandom that had hardly anyone left by the time I arrived and I really felt like I was shouting into a void sometimes tbh, which is why I moved on
(that and other things. but. I love 5Ds.)
Yugioh 5Ds prompt: Aki, learning to use her psychic healing powers for the first time, but set in between the end of the Dark Signer arc and the beginning of the pre-WRGP stuff.
She starts seeing her psychic duelling abilities as more than destructive way earlier on, and helping her overcome the stigma after having been used by Divine makes for a great distraction for the others as well, meaning they all band together to help her - and each other - out, while they’re all finding their feet.
Also I just realised that the second option for guys - light skin, dark hair - looks sort of like hat!Yuusei from that one episode where he’s pretending to not be Yuusei.
It's been a long time, my mind is way more open now than it was back then. But I still don't ship any combination of Yuusei, Jack and Crow. To me, they grew up together. They're as close as family - and in somewhere like Satellite where 'family' is a relative concept because of how so few people have blood family there? Damn right they're close enough.
You know, I keep feeling like Undertale - Sans and Flowey specifically - are really relevant (or the other way around) to my old Yugioh 5Ds TimeFlipped AU. Character who keeps going back and forth in time and keeps seeing his friends die, failing to save them and resets (literally, that's how I termed it) when things go wrong, always aiming for the 'True' ending? CHECK CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK. Kiryu in that AU was/is SO MUCH LIKE A SOMEWHAT MORE ACTIVE SANS WHO REMEMBERS EVERYTHING.
