Day 4: Suit Up

Day 3: Gotta Catch ‘Em All

Nessa’s Buddy Pokemon + Team:

Vanessa’s Partner Pokemon is a Shiny Gardevoir she found as a Ralts when they were young and she (the Ralts) was telepathically calling for help. Throughout her younger years as a trainer she either caught or was gifted the rest of the members of her team. She won a Mega Ring and a Gardevoirite in a Tag Battle tournament with Itza. As an NPC Nessa would be classified as a Beauty. 

Itza’s Buddy Pokemon + Team:

Itza’s Partner Pokemon is a Kommo-o that she raised from an egg her eldest brother gave her as a child. Throughout her younger years as a trainer she sought out and caught the rest of the members of her team. She won a Mega Ring and a Salamencite in a Tag Battle tournament with Nessa. As an NPC Itza would be classified as an Ace Trainer.

So yeah! Turns out I’m gonna do this anyway, even if I deleted the info for my two OCs including their backstories in an insecurity-induced fit a long time ago. But whatever, I want to bring them back for this, just for fun. (Even though I’ve forgotten their surnames, oops.) And yep, I’m starting late since I wasn’t sure if I was gonna do it or not since I can’t draw. So...I’ll just write or make headcanons for the prompts instead.

Day 1: Meet and Greet

Name: Vanessa _

Name Meaning: Butterfly, _

Nicknames: Nessa, Ness, Barbie

Age: 19 (as of Season 1)

Gender: Female

Appearance: A little different from the picrew I used, she is actually supposed to have light brown hair and turquoise eyes. Her style can best be described as ‘modern Pink Lady’ with lots of black and pink, very fashionable. She looks like she could be a Barbie doll, but there’s more to her than meets the eye. Her appearance causes many to underestimate her, most often to her advantage. (Though of course, there are times where it backfires to her detriment.) She also always wears a necklace on a silver chain depicting a silver-bodied dragonfly with iridescent rainbow wings and turquoise eyes.

Notable Abilities: Can see and communicate with Duel Spirits

Backstory: For as long as she can remember, Nessa has been able to communicate with Duel Spirits. The very first being her kind but slightly over-protective spirit partner Xenon (Chaos Command Magician); and while her parents thought this was cute when she was little thinking that he was her imaginary friend, she quickly clued in when she was older that her continuing to talk about seeing spirits was not something that they or most others would be receptive to. The only exception being her best friend Itza who continued to believe her. So because of Xenon, and Itza who always loved Duel Monsters, she assembled a Spellcaster deck and became a prolific Tag Duelist alongside her best friend. That is, until the day Itza mysteriously disappeared and she swore off Duelling until her friend’s safe return. She was in college for costuming and makeup until she was summoned to Neo Domino City by the Crimson Dragon.

Name: Itza _

Name Meaning: Rainbow Lady, _

Nicknames: Itz, Some Greek Codename (as a part of Yliaster, I’ll come back to this later fshshshsh)

Age: 24 (as of Season 1)

Gender: Female

Appearance: Pretty much the same as the picrew I used, except she’s a much edgier dresser with a more balanced red and black look. But yeah, her style is punk/biker-chic for the most part. In contrast to the rest of her appearance, however, she wears a necklace with a silver-bodied dragonfly with iridescent rainbow wings and red eyes on a silver chain. 

Notable Abilities: ‘Eyes of the Crimson Dragon’, an ability gifted to her by the Crimson Dragon which allows her to identify individuals under supernatural influences. She is also able to see short distances into the future and the past as well, which is useful both in a Duel and outside of one, but is sometimes too vague to be of much use.

Backstory: She and Nessa have been best friends since kindergarten, and they grew up doing everything together, that is, except being able to communicate with Duel Spirits. Nonetheless she always loved playing Duel Monsters and wanted to be a pro duelist ever since she was little, so it was her idea to start their tag team. Itza was also the one to come up with the name ‘Team Dragonfly’ which is a combination reference to her Red Eyes Deck, and Vanessa’s name meaning butterfly- hence ‘Dragonfly’. The necklaces were Nessa’s idea though. Things were going well for them, though Itza was going to propose that they disband the team after the next world tag tournament no matter the results. This was so she could go solo, and Nessa could find what she was passionate about for real though Nessa was unaware of this. Then, one  night the Crimson Dragon appears before her ‘asking’ for her aid which she accepts only after confirming that the Crimson Dragon will bring her back home after she does what it wants her to do. This happens two years before the start of canon for Nessa, and five years ago for Itza, because of instead of landing in 5Ds’ present time, she lands in the future and into the ‘care’ of Z-One. Was it an accident, or was it not? We’ll never know. Nevertheless, Itza spends five years in the future before Z-One sends them into the ‘past’.
