You are the soft pillow that I keep on the closet shelf, the one I once held and nuzzled so close against my self. Tight seams all around to hold fabric so thick, the touch, the smell, the memories I can't unstick. But away I've put you, not now but another day; And yet it is your comfort I yearn when at night in bed I lay.

My heart is exploding with gratitude and joy. This past weekend we were so busy with our new puppy, Andy, running him around on the beach and meeting new people, going to my brother’s engagement party, running errands, watching “Away We Go” (highly recommended) and eating Thai food and Ben and Jerry’s. This life with this man is beautiful and hard and simply amazing.

He is my safe harbor and my comforter and my cuddle buddy. He knows me and loves me anyway. He is the one I share my good days and bad days with. He makes me laugh even when I don’t want to. He brings calm to my anxious heart. He makes me want to be better for others and myself. He tells me I’m beautiful in the mornings with my crazy bun and day-old make up smeared across my eyes.

We compromise and discuss and work through our issues because we don’t want to hurt one another. We fight for our relationship and our love because we know it’s worth it. We grow together and separate and we give each other space to do so. He’s my lover and best friend and I love the life and family we have created.
