withing hour: 3am is kami's second mini-album and not one she ever expected to release. she was already in talks with the company about another mini-album when her scandal hit. at first, kami wanted to push forward with the sound she had intended but decided to do something that tugged on her scandal. the company agreed and soon her album was put into motion, and quickly. it'd also be around gal.actic's promotions which would help enforce the idea of her group. all in all, from a marketing stand-point, it was gold.
album title: witching hour: 3am, this time around it didn't take long for kami to settle on an album title. once the album had come together, she looked at the process of the tracks and found a common theme. it also had a slightly haunting feeling that followed the sound of the mini-album.
concept wise: it was a complete turn around from what she had released before. she was sure her fans and the public didn't expect and kami herself didn't expect it. even the hardest hitting track on the album still hugs at her. with it, she can say that she really showed all sides of herself as an artist but it wasn't a fun process. it was a hard one. ( and maybe slightly rewarding. ) it carries her hurt, her anger, fear and has heavy emotional weight. an album that makes her cry.
it's also noted ( and slightly amazes her ) that she had most of the credits for this album, it really was a reflection of her from start to finish.
tracks:
success ( don't kill my vibe ): if anything, this track is the perfect anthem for anyone but it's was really for her. a deceleration that she would move on and do well despite anything that comes up. a personal message to those who wanted to bring her down.
read me: for the people who are curious about her, read me is a book of her life. the reason why she acts the way she acts, what was wrong with her and how it became that way. read me is like a diary and she's imploring people to read it.
i wander: in this song, she's looking at her future. the scandal really threw her off and it made her wonder about what to do in the future. using new shoes as the opening for the song, her path was like putting on a new pair of shoes, it might be hard but soon she'll get comfortable and her heart would be at ease.
9:30: the song title, was from around the time she was supposed to meet the guy that really kicked off this scandal. it was stupid, thinking that he liked her and she learned the hard-way. hence 'why don't you want me?' if anything, it's a song of mourning. mourning for a relationship she wouldn't have.
slow down: written in a dream like state, or that's how she wanted it to sound at least. slow down is her at her most tiredest state. having to remind herself that she needed to take it easy, a sort of self reflection. not as sad as the other songs, having a fairly relaxed and comforting beat.
nothing last forever: the closing of the album and truly the saddest song on it. it's bare, nothing much going on in the song and her vocals are the highlight. now, it gives her slight comfort but she doesn't listen often. she's talking to her past self while still asking her present self questions she hadn't answered yet. it's raw and the perfect close to her mini.
