R.I.P. Mike Peters
2025 continues on its dark harvester drive...
Today's sad news is the passing of Mike Peters, leader of The Alarm.
Their first EP for teen me distilled a workable way to an earnest troubadour heart, and remains a favorite. In the face of those then-distant things like death and having to fight for beliefs, Peters and his band were an early musical comrade. I saw them a couple times back then, and they were a strident gang.
They marched along for a solid career, and Peters kept writing and performing through 30 years of battling that all-too-familiar asshole I don't even have to name. Peters faced it and raised awareness and money against it.
R.I.P. Mike Peters....
"Come on down, and meet your maker. Come on down, and make the stand!"
