Him: Boss is mad. Won’t talk to me. Bumper was wrong but we already painted it.
Me: Yes the advisor let me know already. I’ll reorder it and the bracket and trim also.
Him: I guess I didn’t “mirror match it” like I was “supposed to.” But I did test fit it and it was fine??
Me: Okay. Test fitting is good. But mirror matching helps…
Him: Well, we gotta reorder it.
Me: YES. The advisor already let me know. I will reorder it and the bracket and trim.
Later as I’m walking through the shop
His coworker: Hey are we able to return the wrong bumper? Or do we just toss it?
Me: Unfortunately no we cannot return it.
Coworker: Damn, we’re going to lose that money…
Later, the advisor comes in to my office
Advisor: He let that bumper sit around for DAYS before it was painted but he hadn’t even checked to make sure it’s the right one…
Me: I am not a technician, but are they not supposed to make sure parts are correct before painting them? I can help check certain parts, but that’s going to take a lot of time from me.
Advisor: No that would be unrealistic for you. They need to check their own parts.
Later, he and coworker come by my office
Him: Bumper is out here so you can return it. Here’s the rest.
Me: I can’t return it.
Him: Couldn’t hurt to try.
Me: Ok sure…
Coworker: Please reorder the bumper, the bracket, and trim. Thank you. Do you have anywhere I can bang my head really hard?
Me: lmao yes I will reorder everything.
Him: You can try sending the bumper back! Even if they won’t take it, we’re not losing money.
Coworker losing his shit over this problem he didn’t cause but has to deal with: HOW TF YOU THINK WE’RE NOT LOSING MONEY?? WE HAVE TO ORDER ANOTHER WHOLE OEM BUMPER COVER ANNNNNND PAINT IT!! WASTING OUR TIME, THE PAINTERS’ TIME, THE CUSTOMER’S TIME, HER [my] TIME. HUNDREDS!!! HUNDREDS OF DOLLA- yknow what. I’m going to walk away.
Him: *Changes the subject while I continue working. I walk past him a few minutes later and he’s just sitting there doing nothing. Literally just sitting in a chair.*
