For the 70s!bucky? Does she ever go on tour with him and the band? Do they get into some fights along the way?
70s!Bucky
She doesn’t go on an entire tour. But she’s definitely traveled with them for a week or so, and gone to a handful of shows back to back.
It always feels kind of weird to her. She loves watching him play and seeing him live out his passion.
But it often makes her feel like she doesn’t belong.
It’s so strange to be a witness to women throwing themselves at Bucky and the rest of the band. Y/N also doesn’t miss all the glares women give her when Bucky displays any sort of affection with her in public.
They definitely get into fights. It’s hard for them to navigate through a life of music and a normal life. They both try their best. But sometimes they mess up and that’s what usually causes their fights.
I don't know if this counts, but do you have anything new on 1970s!Bucky? Does he and Y/N get married? I always re-read your HCs of him and wish there were more fics on that AU. If this doesn't count, just ignore this. Thank you so much!
This definitely counts. People can ask questions about ANY of my writing.
70s!Bucky
I’m going to both answer this and not answer this.
While I understand that fanfiction is a lot of fluff and wish fulfillment, I don’t like to make everything end with a perfect and pretty bow.
Whenever I don’t end a story in a wedding or pregnancy, everyone always either wants to me keep writing until I get there or send me asks about it.
Let me be clear, not every story needs to end in marriage and kids and a white picket fence.
Also, if all of my stories ended like that, it would be SOOOO boring. It’d be boring for me to write and boring for you to read.
I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m attacking you.
I just want people to understand that characters can have a happy and fulfilling end to their story without those things.
(This also goes for real life too, guys. 😂)
This was just a fun and short headcanon. I didn’t plan on doing a deep dive of any sort. That’s why it’s a headcanon instead of a full series or even a one shot.
Idk if this will make sense or if it’s too general, but can you do like a 70s headcanon with Bucky? :))
70s!Bucky is the textbook definition of a heartbreaker
He smokes up a storm, yet doesn’t seem to suffer from any of the side effects
He’s the drummer in a rock band
On stage, he has the whole quiet, stoic vibe going on
But as soon as he gets off stage, he charms the pants of all their groupies and female fans
Women would kill to get a chance to run their finger through that long, shaggy hair of his
Bucky’s band is The Howling Commandos
Steve is vocals and lead guitar while Sam is bass
They’re regionally famous
Their manager, Tony Stark, thinks they’ll make it big soon
Bucky gets sick of all the fame and attention sometimes
The compliments and praise start to feel empty
He realizes the women just think he’s a conquest and see him as his stage character, not actually as Bucky
One night he gets sick of the afterparty
Drugs are flowing and girls are extra clingy and annoying tonight
Bucky gives one glance at his best friend and Steve gives a nod, knowing Bucky needed to get some air
He throws on his brown leather jacket and goes for a walk
It’s the middle of the night when he walks past a diner that was closed
There’s a single girl inside, a waitress, stuck with cleaning and closing up
She has the jukebox blasting so loud that Bucky can hear the music playing from outside
She’s dancing her heart out despite the entire restaurant having floor to ceiling windows for everyone outside to see
Bucky can’t help but stop and watch her a moment
She looks so happy and carefree
There’s a light in her that Bucky hasn’t seen in a while
Bucky gets a sudden surge of courage and tries to open the door to the diner
It’s miraculously still unlocked
“You still open?” Bucky asks over the music
She jumps in fright and spins to him
“What the fuck are you thinking, scaring a girl like that?“
Bucky just gives his charming smile that has worked so flawlessly in the past and quickly apologizes
It doesn’t make her melt like it does with all the groupies
Her eyes narrow and she turns down the music. “No. Obviously, we are not open.”
Bucky steps forward and offers his hand. “Hi. I’m Bucky.”
She ignores his hand and scoffs. “I know who you are.”
Usually, this would give Bucky an in, but she clearly looks unimpressed
“Oh, you’ve seen my band play.”
She shakes her head no. “Everyone here knows your band. I’ve seen you around town. You usually have 4 or 5 groupies hanging around you.”
Bucky’s face drops, now realizing how she sees him without ever actually talking to him
He doesn’t even have time to defend himself before she’s shooing him out of the diner so she can finish closing
“Can I at least get your name?” He begs as she’s practically shoving him out the door.
“Why?” She crosses her arms
“What do you mean ‘why’?! Why wouldn’t I want your name?”
“Don’t you have enough of women’s names to get mixed up? I doubt you need to throw mine in the mix.”
Bucky hates that his reputation is ruining his chances of getting to know this beautiful woman
“You think you have me all figured out, do you?” He challenges
She watches him for a second before finally mumbling. “My name’s Y/N.”
Bucky smile beams as she slams the door closed and locks it
He makes it his mission to go to the diner as much as possible
Y/N always tries to ignore him, even when she’s forced to wait on him and his band
She doesn’t seem to mind Steve, which Bucky bitterly takes note of
But it does make him realize that Y/N seems to respond to genuine kindness rather than Bucky’s usual contrived charm
“Just be yourself, Buck. She’s not a groupie. She’s a woman.” Steve urged him after Bucky got turned down by Y/N once again
Bucky starts to lose hope until he sees Y/N at one of their local shows
She’s in the back of the bar with her friends
He almost missed her through the smoke-filled venue
- She spots him as he makes his way to her after the show. He ignores all the women throwing themselves at him on the way
“Didn’t think you were a fan…” He smirks at her
She rolls her eyes, but there’s a newfound playfulness to it. “I’m not. My friends dragged me here.”
“Can I buy you drink?”
It’s the first time he sounds shy and not as confident about it
Which makes Y/N finally nod
Bucky spends the whole night sitting at the bar with you, talking
“Shouldn’t you be talking to your fans or hanging out with the band?” Y/N asks almost self-consciously
He has a cigarette hanging from his mouth
Y/N doesn’t smoke, but she can’t deny how sexy it is every time he exhales the cig
It’s basically erotic
“No. I’m talking to you.” Bucky instantly responds
Y/N tries to ignore how her stomach flips at his confident statement
“I gotta ask,“ He says, "What finally made you give me the time of day?”
Y/N stiffens, not knowing if she wants to be honest or not. But she gives in. “My best friend Natasha. After I complained about you not leaving me alone… she defended your honor.”
Bucky’s brow raised. Natasha had known him and Steve since they were kids. Looks like he owed her a ‘thank you’
“Can I ask what she said?”
“She promised your whole rocker, playboy thing was a schtick. That deep down, you’re actually very sweet. Nat said you got too caught up in the scene and surrounded yourself with people who don’t really know you.”
“And do you believe her?”
For the first time, Bucky saw a little fear in Y/N’s eyes
“I’d like to.” She sighs. “I don’t want to be just another woman, Bucky. I can’t let you break my heart.”
Bucky nods slowly
He knew Y/N wasn’t another woman. He always knew that.
“You’re not another woman. I want you to be the only woman, Y/N. And I’ll write a whole album about you to prove it.”
