I just saw your post about Jonny POV and I can't figure out how to reply to that, so instead I will fill up the empty space in your ask box with my excitement and the ridiculous love I have for the characters of Chelseaverse and your understanding of them. I cannot wait to see what you write next- and oh my god, thank you, you just sucked me right back in to that place of being obsessed with this fic. It's the best escape I could've asked for.

The plan right now is to only focus on some of the pivotal scenes that happen in the story now, connected loosely with scenes that show what Jonny does when he's not hanging out with Pat, i.e. hanging out with Claire and Sharpy and sitting in his empty house and playing his guitar. 

Right now, the big scenes I have in mind are:

-Jonny meeting Chelsea when Patrick brings her to the city (maybe Jonny's talk with Julie?)-Jonny talking to Sharpy-Jonny freaking out about Pat-the first time Jonny babysits Chelsea, when Chelsea bit him-Jonny not knowing what the hell he's doing, taking Chelsea skating, falling in love, in love, in love with someone who only sometimes remembers to wipe when she pees, what.-Jonny and Claire-Jonny freaking out about Pat-Jonny meeting with his realtor (which is only not awkward because Jonny doesn't make these things awkward because the kind of sexual relationship they had was a business transaction and Jonny is good at those things; also, Patrick calls him during that meeting, it's right after Patrick's last AA meeting)-Jonny talking to Coach about coming out

THEN TIME JUMP TO SEPTEMBER WHEN PAT'S IN THERAPY WHAT-Pat telling Jonny about things he's learning about himself in therapy-Pat not touching him-the lockout-Chelsea being awesome at school-Jonny freaking out about Pat-And blah blah blahIt's nothing that I plan to be very long (god, I couldn't bear it). Just loosely connected scenes, I think, that take us from June 2012 to December 2012. I think.

Hello! I hope you're well. Are you still hoping to post on August 11th? If so (or, hell, even if not) I just wanted to send you some love to cheerlead you through to the end, and say how much I'm looking forward to reading :) honestly, your fic is wonderful, and I cannot wait to go back and read it from start to finish and fall in love with Chelsea all over again. Thanks for writing. xxx

Ugh, this message is everything <3 <3 <3

To be real, this is not gonna be ready by the 11th, if only because I just sent ionthesparrow a draft today with the subject line 'fuck everything' and a message body that said, 'Tell me what to cut and where I need transitions and where it's not good enough and I feel like I'm going to die, for real. I'm still writing, won't be done writing until maybe next week and I'll send you the last few scenes when I'm done but ugh. I just want this to be cohesive and good.'

Also, I'm going away this weekend (to hang out with ionthesparrow and java-genie and merisunshine36), which will be all kinds of excitement, as whenever we get together we make each other read our work out loud and it's basically the best/worst beta session in the world. So it's very much a 'working weekend.' I'm even gonna work on the bus. 

I'm not losing my mind, exactly. This is normal when you're finishing a story, I think--I've just never been on the cusp of finishing something this big. And there's all the writing and editing that's happening but there's also the enormity of this almost being over, and the preemptive loss that I'm experiencing, and the anxiety over how the end of this story will be perceived.

Anyway, thanks for this. I love you for this.

I mean, theoretically, but it's not like I'm going to have my log in information immediately either, or know where my office is, etc. etc. That stuff won't be until after I've spent some days doing visa stuff and employment paperwork.

There is a cafe only a few minutes from my house, though, so I guess I'll be spending a lot of time there in the first week? And downloading things off of AO3 and onto my Kindle so I don't die of withdrawal.

Re: Rick/Kieren, from the context I absolutely assumed that the two of them had hooked up (kissed, at least) the night before Rick left, probably for the first and last time, then Rick left before they could talk about it. I'm English, and don't actually agree with the idea that 'in British English, “fool around” is a phrase used namely for physical intimacy, whereas “mess around” is something one does with friends'. I've never actually heard anyone in my generation say 'fool around' out loud.

Interesting! Would you say that “mess around” is also, then, used as a phrase which implies physical intimacy? I’m very curious about language use and differences, so I very much appreciate input on these sorts of things!

I think I gathered nothing had happened from that conversation in particular by the very “casual” way Kieren speaks of it. I mean, that whole conversation is really heavy (REALLY heavy) but the way he slings that sentence together with no special emphasis on any one part (which, had it been their “first time”, I would think would merit at least a little stress on the phrase, or elaboration in the reminder) says to me that it was a night like any other night, and that - at the time - Kieren had been left with no indication that anything was amiss or different. The way that Rick says he was “trying to make it easier” on Kieren suggested (to me, at least) that he wouldn’t have pressed for a first time in that moment, if only for the very reason Kieren states: “Easier on YOU, you mean.”
