As Above So Below is easily my fave beer label of all time, and this is the marshmallow conditioned variant of their impeccable coffee stout. Coming in at 10%, it pours jet black with a foamy tan head and a sweet coffee vanilla nose, the body is thick and sticky with bitter coffee and spongey vanilla, I’m getting cinnamon and pecan vibes, it’s crazy silky, intense yet super drinkable, well-rounded and clean with a dry, chocolatey finish. #7412 Avling Meerkat (2022) (Canada) Dig the neon sign? I’m out here tonight with @bmjudd of Avling on the pod, and we’re starting with the new version of Meerkat. Previously a Grisette with a Saison yeast, now it’s a mixed fermentation beer that hung out in stainless for 3.5 months and then in cans for another 2 months. Coming in at 3.8%, it pours opaque with a foamy head and a funky nose, it’s chewy with barnyard funk vibes, it has low acidity and crisp, it’s bitter and pithy, aromatic, grapefruit and lime vibes, there’s a touch of honey for floral elements and texture, herbal notes from the Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melon hops, lychee elements, wrapping in a dry finish.
