Reasons for performing your own oil change. I last had the 745Li serviced at a quick oil change center. When I removed the drain plug the copper gasket was missing - so it was not replaced when last serviced. The filter and housing hang vertically upside down at the bottom of the oil pan. There is a 6 mm allen plug at the center of the housing. This needs to be removed to change an o-ring. I had a hard time removing the plug so I know this step was omitted at the last service. I noticed an oil leak at this point prior to removing the housing and filter from the car. The large outer o-ring which is a sealing point also looks old. Replacing the disc pads and rotors on the 2004 BMW e66 Need to ensure the hub is clean of any debris by wire brushing the hub. Any foreign objects between the surfaces of the hub and the rotor mating surface will effect wheel balance and overall handling.
