When I first started “trying” to build a fitness routine for myself, I tried to do everything at once. I would come up with the most elaborate pin-point every muscle fiber in my body workout do it once maybe twice and never go back to it again. It’s because I was trying to do too much all at once. I was doing the most. Then @darrenbcu checked me (as is his way) and told me to focus on building habits and to create a ritual for myself. It could be pushups or pullups didn’t matter as long as it was something I could stick too. See when I first started training #jiujitsu I would do yoga religiously for hours. And somehow through all of my moving around over the years I got away from that. I loved connecting with my body, finding peace within my mind and just being with myself. Now I have a love for all the strength based stuff. Hip thrusts, deads and pullups are my fave-zies. And lifting weights is as much a part of my life as jiujitsu. Here’s how I go to where I am now. Break it Down PICK one or two things you like Create a Ritual Make a contract with yourself to do your routine everyday, every other day or even 3 times a week. Mix it Up Once your Ritual becomes a habit (and especially if it’s getting stale) add one more thing, or make adjustments for Progressive Overload ← Will talk about this in another post. Create YOUR environment This last one has been huge for me as of late. Sometimes I feel like I am everywhere and it’s hard to feel settled which for me is important for sustainability. If you’ve been watching my stories, that half rack on my patio is EVERYTHING for me. Your environment doesn’t have to be a gym or even have elaborate equipment or equiptment at all. It just needs to be a space you have created for your fitness ritual. And if you are a person who constantly is on the go and travels you can create that space ANYWHERE. Today I am featuring Flow 3 #7dayswithVon . If you like it click the link in my bio to hear full instructions. Then use one thing from the flow you like and create your own ritual. #fitnessroutine #atomichabits #yogabjjsurf #hipthrusters #deadlifting #pullupchallenge #fitnessonthego (at Physique Magnifique Fitness and Personal Training Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/B81xkZ7Jtv2/?igshid=dtmqn3863bxs
