TRIAL TWO: TRIAL BY FIRE!! Rabbit #002 https://youtu.be/RsfVsYK2gcU
The video begins abruptly, no intro or introduction, as if the video itself was uploaded raw with no editing. The video quality is poor and the camera is slightly shaky, as though taken on someone's phone camera--Which indeed seems to be the case.
The feed starts on a lanky and fairly muscular young man dressed in a cutoff sleeveless black shirt and distressed skinny jeans, his dark undercut contrasting with the platinum blonde dye job on top. He's covered in piercings and tattoos, but his face is lit up with humor.
"Are you filming?" he asks, running a hand through his hair. He's holding a vinyl record in his hands, labeled with a Royal Blood album name.
"Yeah," the unseen camera man responds. He has a slightly more Jersey accent, contrasting with the slight southern drawl of the video's main focus.
The young man being filmed laughs. "Hell yeah. Alright y'all, this is Kingsnake Drummer. I'm sure you're wondering why the content is a bit different this time around." A quick scroll through the channel the video was uploaded to would reveal a few dozen videos featuring 'Kingsnake Drummer' performing at a drum set, each labeled with a different punk song being covered. 'Kingsnake' continues. "Well, a couple weeks back I joined this weird discord server. I think it's run by a demon? I won't get into it now, but comment below if you want another video explaining everything!"
He holds up the record in his hand. "Anyway, so the demon running it told us to burn something important to us, or else. I'm not willing to risk it, so I chose this: my Royal Blood album." The camera moves forward, getting a closer look at the vinyl. It's slightly scuffed and clearly well used, but still in fairly good condition.
"I got this about... five years ago? It was a gift from my boyfriend at the time." The camera pulls away, showing the man looking down at the record fondly. "I was... He was letting me stay with him. Things were bad at home and-- And he helped me through it, y'know? He got me this record cause it was my favorite album then. He had this record player and we'd set it going and dance or just chill or talk about-- About the future." His expression turns more bittersweet, sadness and longing remembrance furrowing his brow.
"We... We broke up. Obviously. We were just kids, both in bad places in our lives. Both... Well, it was mutual. We weren't... the best to each other." He pauses and sets the record down on a metal stand. "I still kept this record, though. It was... It has good memories, bad memories too, but the good memories outweigh the bad."
His voice hitches and there's a pause, the man quickly running his wrists past his eyes. "But... Anyway. So this challenge is about... Well, it said 'learn to let go,' so I guess that's what I'm doing here. I'm letting go."
The camera pans over to the right, showing the rusted barbecue grill the man is standing next to. He bends down and lifts up a half-full bag of charcoal and sets it down next to the record. "So here's to letting go!"
The man starts opening the bag when the camera tilts down slightly. The person holding the camera speaks again. "Hold up, what's that?"
---
The following few minutes of footage involve the two men finding a small lizard in the grill and fussing over trying to get it out. Eventually the lizard is freed and scared off, and the other man takes a minute to double check the grill for anymore creatures before loading up the fuel and lighting it up.
The burning itself is almost as chaotic, with sticky black smoke rising from the burning record and some fuss being made over city pollution laws and whether they should be wearing protective masks. By the end of the video the record is warped beyond use, completely destroyed by the fire.
The man looks at the camera, running his fingers through his hair again, now grayed with soot. "Let's get out of here, man."
